My wood demand has gone back up quickly since yesterday! What do you think of these temperatures? !!! Yesterday morning it was in the fifties here. It is now 8 degrees 24 hours later. I went from leaving the boiler off when I went to work in the morning yesterday to cranking it up when I got home from work about 6pm and filling it full when I went to bed last night and letting it rip. Almost all snow is gone except where the banks were a really good size. Strange days indeed -- most peculiar, mama! ;lol

I thought you gasifier guys with storage can go for weeks without burning??????==c

On Wednesday it was 65 degrees here, albeit cloudy and windy, and I was splitting red oak in a t-shirt. Today, it is 29 degrees and it will be 19 degrees tonight. The temp in the house actually rose on Wednesday without even lighting the furnace. Today, the furnace is burning. Such is life. Pretty happy about the mild winter we have had so far.

The last 2 winters have been a cycle of cold, mild and exceptionally warm stretches of weather. Very little snow and generally mild temps for the most part. Winter 2010 - 2011 was a brutal one around these parts with very cold temps and very heavy snowfall amounts. Not much of either since then though...

I drove home last night around midnight and it was -23. Woke up this morning to -32. My front door was half frozen shut.

Shane - I will not run out of firewood. ;lol That is some cold ass temps you got there friend.

Legrandice - If I had enough storage I probably could. But weeks would be a lot of storage! I only have a 400 gallon buffer tank. The "real" storage guys have between 1000-2000 gallons. And they can go for a long time without a fire. Lots of factors there of course with time between fires.

Muncy - Dam straight. I like the 8 degrees we had now that I see Shane's temps.

FrankMA - Don't count this year out yet. Just like in Northern New York, where you are you never know what is going to happen. You could be in for ......... ?

Fabsroman - Put that bathing suit back away.

TimJ - Thanks for the consoling and advice. ;lol I did put a hat on this morning at about 6am when I had to go out and bring some more wood in from under the porch and into the basement through the window. That will be for late tonight's loading of the boiler. I like to get the wood warmed up before I torch it.

Back on track, it appears this cold will last at least a week. Frost going back into the ground.
