Nice looking timber. Also, nice excavator, Excavator.

Nice score. Was it free?? I'm seeing ash but Idon't see enough maple around here, except silver maple, to say maple for sure. But if the rest of the gang says maple, who am I to go against the grain, as it were.;)

Wow! You'll not need wood for several years to come! Nice!

And wood, even wood given at no charge, is never free. It has to be cut, transported, split, stacked, carried into the house and its remains must be desposed of in a proper manner. Nope, ain't much in this old world world that's "free."

Cadavers don't have much use for wood anyways ;)

ok I need to rethink what kind of wood this is. I thought it was ash from what it looked like on my trailer.
Now not sure

13828370_BG1.jpg Lick it - I Double dog dare ya....

This thread is taking a funny direction but I have always said that it is easier to identify wood by smell and taste than bark or grain for some species. Oak is bitter and Sasafrass will taste wintergreen - sugar maple will be sweet - obviously.

That inner heartwood sure looks like maple but that out red band doesn't seem right.

I'm gonna say hard maple, to be sure give a split a lick (yes, a lick). Is it bleeding alot at the cut ends?
If it's sugar maple, it'll taste sweet. I make maple syrup, trust me.
No I'm not nuts, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night...... ;)
Definetly Hard Maple.
I don't think I've ever seen a HM log with that much bird peck defect in it !!!

Some messy Maple. Hope the other logs split better for ya. Nice load of wood!

Still hard maple and ash.

Brown center is ash.

Never even heard of "Doosan" till the other day watching that mining show on the TV and the Dakota guys got a Doosan FEL and Excavator. I was thinking what kind of cheap China made chit is that... I was thinking of those knock off "tractors in a crate" but apparently Doosan is a BIG company. And they say TV will never teach you anything?!

I have 2 Doosan excavators that are GREAT machines.
Oh I have a 1988 Cat D3 Dozer that is made in JAPAN and stamped on serial number plate but I bought it NEW from local Cat dealer
And last thing, Doosan owns BOBCAT equipment
