So, my brother, a close friend and myself bought some Barefoots. 3 tons to be exact.
I can't believe the quality of this pellet! Clean burning and HOT! I'm glad I spent the money for this great pellet! I have restored faith in my Englander 25EP!

and how much a ton ?

Tri County Coal in Mahopac. $289 per ton picked up. They also carry Energex, New England and one other brand that I can't remember.

thanks. they are not sold by me and was wondering the price per ton. enjoy the heat

I was at odds with the price as well. I justified it because i have spent $209 for the big box stock, which is hit or miss IMO, I felt the extra $80 was worth it for a really good pellet. It still beats buying oil, hands down.

why not try some somersets.one of our fellow members has four ton that he is selling.they burn so hot thet are overheating his stove.i believe he is in Poughkeepsie also.

$80 ton??? Worth it??? Too many other options out there IMO to spend that much more..

I'm burning Barefoots too and Green Teams and they ARE both expensive here outside of Boston. Because I no longer have my Ford Ranger, I rely on deliveries and options here are few. I could get Green Supremes from my local Lowes -- but I won't because I tried them, they're weak, and hardly anyone likes them. So, Jason, if you can get a better/cheaper pellet go for it. But I can't and Barefoots are good (but ashy) so enjoy.

I was at CTpellet this morning. You'd be surprised at how many people where buying Barefoots and Turmans. I was there for 1 1/2 hours(roughly And every person that walked in only bought these 2 brands. I'm a bit up front so I had to ask, Reason was stove runs longer between cleanings and more heat. Still cheaper than oil. Even though CT has cheaper brands available. He was selling the good stuff.

Everyone has their own plan of attack. None are right or wrong. Its what works for the individual IMHO. I can't swing the full stash of the top dogs. But I'll have at least some in there. BF and Turmans sure do ward off the cold nicely! ;)

If you can find Somersets, Greene Team, Stove Chow, or Presto Logs in the big box stores, you'd be OK. They all have been getting good reviews this winter. I basically have burned GT's for almost all of the cold weather except for the last weeks bitter cold....switched to the Set's. But if all I had was the GT's, I think I would been OK then too.....just crank the stove up a couple of notches.

Just found a very local dealer in my area selling these for 275/ton. I got 4 bags to try (along with Country Boys) and so far I'm impressed. Compared to the green label lignetics I have been burning, these pellets do burn hotter. I've only burnt a single bag yet but I've already noticed that the stove is warming the house on medium setting, as opposed to the next higher setting with the Lignetics. I paid 235/ton for the Lignetics, and I'll gladly pay the premium for these.

Seems cleaner after only a bag too. I'm getting light white on my glass, rather than dark black.

I'm excited to try the Country Boys after this.

I spend $300 a ton, or thereabouts, every ton. Still a lot cheaper than oil.

If you shop for your pellets in April or May, you can pick up some of those premium brands for $250 or $255. The selection is much better then as well.
