I used to have a wood stove back in the 70s but these new epa models have me unsure what size stove to get. I noticed on the Lopi models theres not much lip to hold ashes. That means I would have to clean out every day THAT WOULD SUCK .I wanto go to bed at night get up next mornin n just add more wood. Should i go for the bigger stove ? So I need to chose a stove that takes 16" or 24" logs. The dealer says the Lopi endeavor is big enough 16" log cap. HELP!!!

Welcome to the forum oldnfat2! I would look for a stove with a 2 cubic foot firebox for your home.. Lopi makes a good stove and there are many others in this size firebox. I can clean my ashes around once a week or so. Take a look at the PE stoves and others to see what fits your needs and budget..

Good Luck!

Welcome to the forum. I have the Endeavor and I can hold up to a week's worth of ashes in it. Also, it'll take up to an 18" log. I am not sure if your dealer has read the manual. It's a great stove and certainly will do 1500sq ft.

We've got the sister stove to the Endeavor, the Republic 1750, and we clean out ashes every week or two depending on what we're burning.

My last clean out took 5 gallons of ashes out of my Englander nc-30. It was starting to limit capacity a bit.

Lopi stoves are built like tanks. They are made to last a lifetime. I noticed in another thread you said you were looking at a liberty. I think the liberty is going to be too much stove for a 1500' home unless there is no insulation and a lot of drafts. I'm heating 2400' with the liberty and it keeps it between 85 and 90. I take the ashes out of the stove every Thursday. There are times I wish I would have went with the endeavor, but during this cold snap the liberty kept this house above 80 even at night. If your house is well insulated the endeavor should do the job. Also if you don't have a good wood supply get started on one. These lopis and every other stove likes 2 year old seasoned wood. If your wood is not properly seasoned your not going to get much heat out of an EPA stove
