My stove is driving me crazy. Every time I start it up I have to push the reset button. It feeds pellets and lights right up, but it does not feed anymore pellets. Fire go's out then I push the reset button again, feeds pellets, lights up, fire go's out. I have to do this many times then it begins to feed pellets correctly instill I have to shut the stove down. And another thing it won't start to feed pellets when I turn the thermostat up anymore. The blower motor turns on but know pellets feed intill I push in the reset button. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks...

Clean the vacuum line (remove hose from switch and blow through the hose towards the stove)

Check the door gasket (Open door, insert dollar bill between the door and gasket, close door and try to remove dollar bill. If it's easy, the door needs adjustment or gasket needs replaced)

Also, where is the feed gate? If its feeding pellets, then igniting? It sounds like all is well, if the T/C doesn't get hot enough (600°) then it shuts down? So, if to little fuel is delivered at start up, then it wont reach the temp.

What setting are you running on? And has the flame height been set according to the manual (4"-8" above the pot on High)

I've have ps-50 in the basement. Had the same problems, had to turn up my settings on the control box. Plus it seems to start harder the longer I leave the cleaning go. And sometimes I put a handful of pellets in before starting it.

I will do all of the suggestions tomorrow when I get home from work. I like the stove a lot and I do clean it, maybe not enough though. I'll post the results. Thanks...

Also try removing the ceramic thermocouple cover {with stove off} and tap any ash out of that ceramic cover....then re-install the ceramic cover, making sure it butts up against the end of the thermocouple inside the ceramic cover.......Try all the things Dex mentioned......May just need to open up the feed gate some.......

Cab50. A problem I had.

1. Pellets drop, pellets ignite, no more pellets drop, fire goes out if left alone

2. Pellets drop, pellets ignite, no more pellets drop, hit reset button, works like a charm
I did the washer trick on the door and no more issues.

Also,
Batteries went weak once in stat and stove would not call for heat. Not your problem I think but I like to add it just in case another reads the thread with the same symptons.

I do the "handfull of pellets" in the burn pot for the fun of it also. It does seem to fire up a little faster.

dollar bill test your door gasket. Adjust the handle and you will be good.

Thanks Dexterday. Only thing I did not do was adjust the control box. I never burn the stove on high, but when I have, the flame was much more than 8" high and it was really kicking som heat.
I put a washer between the door catch and box. I still could add a thinner washer as well. Eric said adjust the handle. I didn't see how that would be done.
T/C is cleaned and butts up against the ceramic cover.
Stove fires up, and it does drop pellets now after burning for a bitt then stops and of coarse fire go's out.

Question for you all. How do you adjust just the bottom of the handle side? Or the hinge side? Would it be advantageous to get a thicker gasket to reduce any air leaks. I have I think one in lower corner handle side.
I have already taken the washer off to make it tighter.

You add a washer between the nut and the catch on the door handle I was told.

Stove is running like new. I cleaned behind the tree panels in back of the stove after I had adjusted the T/C and door. Works just like it should. Thanks for all your inputs....

I moved the washer to the other side of the lug, but my stove is still acting up. Did you remove the washer or add an additional washer?

We picked up a used but well cared for Heatilator PS35 for the basement. We had the same issues with the stove going out shortly after ignition. Took the thermocouple cover off, cleaned the inside and outside of the cover as well as the thermocouple itself. Re-adjusted how much of it hangs over the side of the burnpot, and presto, it works fine now. Some great info in this thread, thanks!
