Why did I bother dumping these pellets into the furnace?

Feeling the Heat

The past couple days its been in the high 20s/low 30s. Today it is warming up and it supposed to max out somewhere in the low 40s. Currently its 36 outside and raining.

I've been running the Fahrenheit on level 2 the past couple days and its been around 71-72 in the house. That's on the high end of what we like the house to be. 69-70 is perfect for myself and my wife. The furnace has been on a steady diet of Magic Spark with a bag of Somersets dropped in now and again since I started it up about a month ago.

I let the hopper get low on the furnace today as I wanted to vacuum out the fines that accumulated over the past 35 or so bags. Since it was going to be warmer today, I went out to the barn, passed the "good stuff" and went for the shoulder pile. In went a bag of Michigan Wood Pellets (the Holland ones, not the Grayling ones). Time to see what the furnace would do with a pellet that isn't as good as what I've been running.

The house is now 67 and the furnace is running on level 3. :(

Moral of the story - even though the Fahrenheit is a heck of an appliance, garbage in equals garbage out. I'm going to save whats left of my shoulder pellets for the 6041 when its not cold enough outside to warrant running the furnace. I'm thinking they should be good for those 60 degree days in May when you just want to burn a bag or two and knock the chill out of the house.

Once those are gone, I am done playing the "good pellet/not so good pellet" game. Better to run on a lower setting with a good pellet than a higher setting with a not so good pellet. But 98% of you reading this already knew that and are saying "we told you so...." :)

The Fahrenheit will Burn ANYTHING! But heat output is another story.

I tried burning some Junk pellets in mine last season. Burned great. No heat :(

Burn them up and stock pile the Good Stuff!! ;)
