Daksy, related question. In a wood boiler, I considered putting Roxul either under the metal covering, or on top. My thought is that you would want to avoid convection outside of the wood boiler and try to keep the heat in the water. Is there a problem with this method? Any risks? I figured if I can slow the air flow around the boiler, I can keep more of the heat in the water jacket itself.

I really don't see a problem & I understand what you're trying to do, but I'll move this post to the boiler forum, as those folks know more about this area than I.
