Got a mixture of several species today. Everything already down......soft maple, ash, beech and hickory. I just love getting out there shortly after the sun comes up. Was going to cut 2 loads today but still shaking the remains of a cold so I stopped at 1 as it already felt like I had been hosed down by the time I got this one cut and loaded.

I sure hope I don't need to worry about that lawn mower for awhile. I have a LOT of splitting to do and more cutting to do also. A good friend and I have an area that was logged last year and we just scratched the surface last year from about March to May. So far we have not been able to get back to it because of the weather. We have to start hitting it hard because we are afraid of leaving some of the stuff for another year...just not sure what shape it will be in.

If you keep getting 1/2 cord+ loads like that,
it won't take long to add up to several years worth.

Being out cutting in the fresh air will shorten the cold, (best medicine :) ).
You'll be feeling better & able to hit it hard soon.

I like to split loads like that right off the truck, (horizontal) saves a step & less lifting.
Back the tail gate right next to the splitter. ;)

Since Sat. is my only day in the winter to cut I just keep hauling it home. Once we get those longer days I will start splitting in the evenings after work. I already have 3 years worth split and stacked....guessing another 1.5 years worth waiting to be split. I should easily be close to 6 years ahead by summer. Or at least 5 depending on what I burn yet.

Yea, the addiction.
I'm at the 3 year mark, a rookie to many on here. (& looking for more all the time) :)

Nice! Hard to believe we have snow in SW Ohio and you don't. I was going to cut today but had a fever last night and figured that would be the worst thing I could do.

Yeah, here in NWO I have a saying now. Even god can't make it snow here anymore. Not really, but it makes the point. Sometimes I wonder if the weather will warm so much we won't even need fires anymore. I don't think that will happen anytime soon though. Second year running now with almost no snow to speak of.

Nice load Locust, looks like you'll be mowing soon.

That is a really fine mix of wood! Most folks would be very happy with that. And with you having several years wood on hand already, this is beautiful.

We had a good coating of snow on until earlier this week it warmed and rained. I'd be fine without the snow but would like the ground to stay solid.

Nice stuff, I was out today too and it was an awesome day to be out!

How quick things change.....green grass and now 2 inches on the ground from overnight.

The light colored wood on the left side is what was cut yesterday. Nice big load of red oak that Sandy took down. Man was that stuff HEAVY

Locust Post. What body of water is that behind you? Looks like you have quite a spot there.

I'm not buying the warming stuff, this winter has been a "normal" winter in SW Ohio. I grew up in NE Ohio and I will say that we got more snow then than what falls now.

Nice job LL.......I never had a whole lot of oak in the stacks until last year. Now just have to wait a couple more years to get into it.

No body of water behind me Gas all pasture. Only body of water is the swimming pool that the white fence surrounds. :)

Got light, med and heavy-duty stuff there. Nice load! In the stack next to the stove right now I've got Cherry, Ash, White Oak and BL, loaded depending on what I want the stove to do.
I've got the exact same wheelbarrow but mine's a bit worse for wear. Latest repair is putting washers on the carriage bolts where the heads pulled through the tray. <>

Yep Woody that has been a good wheelbarrow and I have a bolt pulled through also. I ask for a new one from Santa and got a few Lowes giftcards so may replace it but I want the exact same one if they have them. I did see them at a hardware in Norton, OH. awhile back.
