How did you manage that? The best I can do is $177.30.

If I could get them close to what you paid, I'd do a little dance while hauling them in to the bunker! I really doubt the neighbors want to see that one! ;em

That "pellet guy" sure seems like a stand up gentleman..... Hooe he continues to do well.

Congrats on the score Jay... Super jealous!!

I am finally gonna get to buy some pellets this year (gonna be down around 4 ton at the end of season). Wife said I can get some new pellets for the new stove ;) it's Ben over 2 yrs since I bought a ton of pellets. I had almost 10 ton 2 yrs ago...Stoked to be able to buy more ;). I'm never buying that much again. I enjoy the "rush" of the hunt to much, to go 2 yrs without it (only bought samples of 5-15 bags of new/different brands in the last 2)

Actually I just remembered I picked up a half a ton at that price with a 15% coupon before they switched back to the straight 10%.

Dam I can't go past 2 weeks without stashing something. Serious with drawl starts soon after. I couldn't imaging going 2 years and no touchy or feely with the pellet stacks. I'd be in the looney bin! !!!

Have you announced what the new stove is yet? If so I guess I missed it.

It's kind of depressing that with all the wood we have in Maine, the best pellet we can offer is the MWP softies.

Least you have a couple mills. We have nothing. All our pellets come from out of state. I can't route for the local guy. ScotL is listening, Maybe asking for something special could pay off?

We have 4 that I can think of, MWP, Maines Choice, Corinth, and Northeast. I think Geneva and Maines Choice are the same. You also don't have the resources we have. When was the last time you saw a truck load of logs on the highway? I see many of them daily, and I'm 100 miles from whats called the North Maine Woods, which is pretty much wilderness.

If you go out on the roads around here, you most always see a truck hauling wood. There is alway cutting going on somewhere around here. There is a place about a half mile from me that processes and sells multiple cords of fire wood.
Some poor sap in Augusta is being picked on by neighbors and city adm. For cutting firewood for resale. The complaint is about the sound of his saw!

CT is actually pretty busy logging. My wife's uncle was a logger and logged exotic woods until a black walnuts widow maker took his life. We have many hardwoods heading up to Canadian mills. Our waste wood is mostly turned into mulch. But we have plenty of good stuff that could be turned into pellets.

My early days of pellet burning I was able to get the western established mills ware. Then we started getting mills that were closer to home gearing up and the first few years weren't even close to what the western mills were sending. Now look at them. We have some fine mills over hear on the east coast. Your mills are still young and still learning. In time we will see them progress into better mills with better products. The leaps MWP has made is outstanding in the short time they have been on line. The Geneva mill isn't a slouch either! With all the fiber you have up north and the area getting to be a popular spot for mills to grow in. I would highly doubt things will stay where they are at.

I'm hoping we get a New England mill to start harvesting the beetle killed oak trees like they are doing out west with the long pole pines. There is quite a bit of it out there that is just going to waste! A dream that may never happen, But I remain hopeful!

I sure as hell hope you are right. I agree the improvement in MWP's pellets has been remarkable because they were junk in the early days. Every bag of Maine Chioce I have tried has been 25% sawdust, so I gave up on them.

Northeast looked to be a clean pellet. But the density was too low. No heat at all from them. Corinth I also have hopes for, But haven't tried any lately. Geneva's are pretty decent stuff, Will rival the MWP softies. But pricey down here. MWP seems to be the one everyone is keeping an eye on.

The fiber is the tickler. They need to keep it as clean as possible and density could also be improved. But these things may also raise the prices. If you like the prices now? I'd forgo some of the improvements.

From what I've seen, the mills that use logs or chips for a fiber source don't and probably can't produce the same quality pellets as mills with a dedicated fiber souce, so I think this disparity in pellet qulity will always exist.

DELIVERY!!! Whats that????

Finally a pellet that's CHEAPER up here! Seen em at 209 in some places lately. Big box bagging but same pellet

Yeah, my pellet house tried them in the first year and he spent the entire burning season picking them up. Dave swore off em and it took MWP a while to get back in with him. Probably one of his better sellers now.
Really glad to see that as the softies really are a good fuel. Wonder what it takes to make them a great fuel? Is is process, raw material type or combo of both?
