Just remembered a conversation I had with another fellow that cuts some wood on the farm I cut at. He told me that he gets some kind of pills from the drug store that he says builds your immunity. I have also heard it said you can chew the leaves to build immunity but I AIN'T GONNA TRY THAT.

In survival school they teach you that when you enounter an unknown plant that you want to eat, you can rub it on your skin, then wait eight hours to gauge your body's reaction. I was thinking of that when I read your post above. I could not imagine my body's reaction to tucking a piece of PI between my check and gum. OMG! I would be in the hospital for sure!

Took down the Ivy tree, cut, split, stacked it, and lit it on fire :)
We will see if I end up with a rash or not, hope not :(
It is worse to have a rash in hot weather

Another reason I love living here. :)

Only thing I've run into while cutting wood is some hairy vine things. No idea what they are called. The hairs stick through jeans even and act like metal slivers.

None in alaska ;)
PI or Ash.
No snakes either :)

Ooops forgot the Pic

I here ya,that's why I like living here rather than the southern states, cuz they have a lot of bugs, big mosquitoes, a lot of nasty snakes ( I HATE SNAKES) and even gaiters

But you do have that mean, ol' looking Devil's Club . . . I'd hate to tangle with that stuff.

Devils club is a Greenbrier and I cactus mixed together
When you try to step on it he comes up and smackyou right between the legs
the invisible little briars get infected before they'll pop out
