Found a way to make the sawbuck faster.

Yeah, that's the MS460 I heaved together from a pile of parts.



The old 034... (same bar and chain BTW)



29 seconds vs 47 to get through the pile. Need to find more wood to feed that 460....

I do have to ask this...why weren't the rounds just cut to length and then split? Sounds smartassy of me but I am serious. I have a stick I taped to a spray can and I just run it along a log so I know my 18" line and so every split ends up being 18". Other than that, smart cutting tool

Those fist or golfball sized odd chunks/blocks are mainly what I use to feed the Weber kettle or Brinkmann water smoker.Havent bought commercial bagged charcoal in probably a decade now.

That ol' 034 sure sounds great too.

I didn't cut those rounds. They were all over the place, 12" to 24", even beyond for a couple of them. We split them all because my buddy has a stove that can take 24" logs.

I built the sawbuck primarily to cut up poles in a hurry. Throw 80" pole on there, make 4 cuts and you get a whole shoitload of rounds in minutes. But.... it has other uses too.

A saw buck of some kind will be, obviously better when I get one built, but I had a bunch of poles , I laid them across some logs ,piled em up, put some straps around them zip zip stack em up.

I use my sawbuck quite a bit now, trim down pieces i cut when I first started and cowboy cut. Thinking it'll fit, granted they do fit but not as good as uniform 16" pieces loaded N/S. After the next 2 cord they are all cut to 16" so the sawbuck will likely only get used to trim down rounds I get from scrounges that other people cut.

Thats really is an issue with a 460. Before you know it your on the splitten and stacken crew. Cant even wrap my hand around using anything else!
