picked up a older englander( i think) have a few questions.

just grabbed a stove off craigslist the other day and have a few questions. one how old is it. it has two knobs and a green and red button for a control panel. it also has no cold air intake? is that possible? i have pics but have to get them off my phone.

sounds like our old (pre1998) circuit board , it does have a connection (assuming it is my stove) for outside air but it doesnt poke out the back, look into the underside of the stove from the back below the hopper cabinet the intake should be protruding either from the bottom of the feed system or from the left side of the feed system as viewed from the rear.

if it is my product the serial tag will be located on the left side of the pedistal (viewed from the front) just below the exhaust blower. if you locate this tag and shoot me the number off of it i can give you some specifics on it if its mine.

hard to be precise with that picture but it looks to me to be a 25-PDVP manufacture would be between 1994-96 (can tell by the hinges which were shortened in 97 as i recall) the unit was rated up to 1800 sq ft coverage, its epa exempt (35-1) the intake is as i described above , as is the data plate. i can pretty much tell you anything you want to know about that stove (especially with manufacture date) as i was still building stoves back when that one was produced, probably had a hand in building it myself.

I tell you thats one solid machine. It weighs a ton.its going in my moms house to help cut the oil bill. Thanks for the input. I will try and grab that info tonight. Hope my brother didn't paint over it. Do you sell parts for it still?It might need a exhaust blower soon. But I haven't had time to look into it. Phil

yeah, she's almost 400 lbs (shipping weight) so she's a "battleship" as for parts , yeah i have anything you would need for that model, the current exhaust blower does mount to that unit (pu-076002b is part#)

with a stove that old you will want to do a thorough inspection of it prior to use , make sure the gaskets and seals are servicable as they are the most commonly overlooked components of pellet stoves and they truly are important for good solid safe service. as i said before should you have any questions or concerns let me know, i know that stove intimately.

lol FWIW there is no "carnal" knowlege between me and that stove. but i do know the ins and outs of that stove as well as anyone.

To the OP: as always, the stove should be taken apart as much as possible (blowers, ash trap doors, burn pot, etc, etc), rolled out that garage door, and blown out with compressed air. Very easy to hook a leaf blower to it too.

An outside burn for the first fire wouldn't be a bad idea, either. Especially after painting it (fumes!)

yep, the "tristar" 25-5670 is a "rebadged" 25-pdvp same unit. we built the tristars for US stove from the mid to late 1990's

Yeah, solid unit. Built like a Wood stove (firebox is almost separated from Hoppa). 1/4" plate top and has tube type exchangers, and also a MEAN Radiant Heat! It heated like a wood stove and looked like a pellet stove.

I still have mine. Although its not hooked up, I cant sell it. I put a new Auger motor and combustion blower in it,Now I can't get rid of it. I am keeping it for the nostalgic part. Its old and works awesome still. Plus no one will give me more than what I have in it ($500 to be happy selling it).

Got the info. It is a 25-pdvp. Manufacture date 10-97 serial # 003049. Have already gave a good cleaning and blew it out with the compressor.

Mine was 5/97 (maybe 5/96?, have to look).

I never installed mine in my house. But...

It has the same over temp that newer Englanders have (and it works)!

I have had mine shut down once because I had it cranking (2.5 hrs on HIGH!!)
