Eastern MA falls pray to Fujiwhara effect - 20" of snow & IS School in Boston! - RT101 swerve pics

The Fujiwhara effect! (Look that up in your Funk and Wagnals ! LOL)

This effect is when 2 storms come together to intensify the storm overnight. One storm pulled in large amounts of moisture from the ocean and the other storm with artic air made it all snow. Because this happened overnight our Boston mayor said there was not enough time to call the school closing for the poor 60,000 students in the Boston public schools!

West Walpole MA was part of the jackpot area of 25 inches!
Canton MA got 30 inches!

I was driving on RT-101 in NH at 8 PM last night when storm started. See wiggling tire tracks of car on right. They were afraid to continue but the storm was getting much worse at this time!

My house after it was over. Two feet of heavy crap. Even though I have the plow and a big snowblower it was a ton of work then I had to go do customers. Today sunny so will be raking roof edges.

St Croix doesn't make pellet vent but yes we are vented up the chimney.
Ought to be fun raking this snow. First need to use snowblower to get close enough. Uggh

All that snow makes a good insulation blanket. Like an Igloo! LOL

Well I raked as much as I could. Bro will do the back. Simpson duravent lined all the way up and capped. Ya snow insulates I've heard, but 24" usually causes me ice dams and leaks so I rake. Stove keeps it too hot in here even on the coldest days so am all set w the insulation properties of it.

24" of heavy, wet, but felt like cement when using the roof rake.

Looks good now. Duravent is much better than a liner! Cool gal!
Did you get mad at that window with the tape on it?

I had to fix the leak around my sink vent pipe! Then I extended it 12" higher not only to meet code but to keep the heat and moisture off my roof!
See pics of my roof and my neighbors. I showed my neighbor the pic of mine compared to his and now he has to fix his. LOL
All the houses on my street do not pass this code of 12" high off the roof. They are all 6" high except mine is 18" high now! LOL

Yes, North Shore was in the 10" - 15" range!

Don't have to go too far to hear snowblowers and see deep snow but only got 5 or 6 inches of heavy slush here.

We had 55 inches of snow a few years back in 24 hours in Berne, NY.. I had a metal carport with all my firewood stored... the roof had to be snow raked a few times during the storm... like 24 feet long , 2 sides to do... Easiest way to get near the roof,,, snowshoes! Worked great,,, towards the end of the storm I was almost eye level with the roof.
