The quantities of wood you guys out in the country can deal with are just amazing to this city dweller. It's an engineering project for me to keep three or four cords on my property.

and i feel like i am running out of room ;lol . might have to expand the wood stacking area. if you look in the back ground in the pics you can see the subdivsions are close. I am boxed in now with subdivison to the north , condos to the south and big'ol swamp behind me.
the 5 acres of woods here is our little slice of country close to the city. only 5min from I-75 and close the big great lakes crossing mega mall .I stay clear of that area . I am 1000' off the main road witch is nice.

must be tough in the the city , are you only allowed so much wood on your lot or just not the room ?. I know some communitys give you grief of whats in your yard. I would never make it with all my tractors , wood and junk :)

In my case there's just no room. My lot is decent-sized considering it's in a fairly urban area, but it's on a steep slope. The only level areas are a tiny front yard and the concrete patio behind the walk-out basement. I don't know what other ordinances are in place, but they don't seem to be too onerous. Seems like most houses in the neighborhood were built with fireplaces, though few of them are in active use. Small wood stacks are fairly ubiquitous, though often rotting. I suspect that so long as you maintain cordial relations with your neighbors, you're good to go.

Nice pics! I'll bet Cujo there keeps the subdivision yuppies at bay!

Great stuff there. I always think of Auburn Hills as the CITY but you have given me a new perspective. I was down there the other day visiting a clinic I work with. Are you selling wood or burning all that? You super hoarders are my heros. When I grow up I want a wood pile like you and BS have!!

Your dogs look to be having fun too - Love the JRT on the wood pile.

personal use. heat house and personal shop . if you drive by the mall there is a guy across form wendys that has large wood splitting operation and stock pile of wood in front of a run down little house . looks out of place in the city right off the main road. sure has built up around here. my road was a narrow dirt road when we bought here in 84. now its paved and a 40mph major cut thru.

she makes her rounds :) go's next door to the condos and gets them riled up . think someone gives her treats over there. bad thing is she sets a bad exaple for the little dog and i have to watch she dont sneak over there now.
