I would think that most non-hybrid cars have pretty much the same pollution during production, probably proportional to the weight of the car.

Some manufacturers make claims about their green operations (notably Subaru, cars that I love- but they don't make a hybrid), but in general terms I would expect that you are right

Huh. Too bad. We have had nothing but great performance/reliability out of our Subies. The AWD kicks serious butt here in the winter.

The diesel's are a great engine. I read that a Subaru executive said that they felt the NA was not ready for a Diesel SUbaru...I was like WTF?! Either way, I own 2 and love em'

Lots of tech is in transition now. There will be mistakes and tangents, but the direction is good. Developing efficiencies are changing. I wouldn't take the AEI or WSJ article POV too seriously. Of course the oil industry wants to denigrate anything they can that is about fuel saving technologies. They are threatened and are doing all they can through disinformation to demonize clean tech. In the meantime, ever look at the mines that built Detroit iron? Or where their next big fuel supply is coming from to supply the ICE? This is hypocritical.It doesn't help progress, but then that was never big oil's or Detroit's goal.
