Very close to me.
I would run this stove for a few years no problem.
It will at least take a lot off your NG bill and it's a cat..great for the shoulder.
But have no idea how much it would cost to fix or even if you could.

alot of people asking top dolar for junk or old smoke dragons, if its newer seems they want to much imho

I am looking for a bigger stove so not much used out there.. judging it based off a Drolet Myriad would cost me $910 delivered from Northern Tool

so searching the used market for a good deal but pickings are slim

If you like the look, I think the pick of this litter is the PE Spectrum for $950/offer. . .your $750 would probably work.

this looks good but it wouldnt be up to the job? correct??

better in the shoulder seasons but not enough output on cold days?? (its a fireview)
$1500 is too much for a used Fv. A factory refurb isn't much more than that. As far as the Fv being up to the job on the coldest days, maybe not, depending on your house, etc. Basically, if your stove is not oversized, you burn faster/hotter and reload more frequently on the coldest days, 3x /day for me. A non-cat probably would be better for this type of burning. IME, it's difficult to clear the Fv's firebox sooner than ~8 hours. I've read about problems with some non-cats accumulating coals too, but I have to believe that the typical "doghouse" air helps with burning coals down, as would a bit of air leaking in from an ash pan. The Fv has no ash pan, and the only air in the bottom of the firebox is from the airwash coming down the glass. It also holds 3-4 inches of ash comfortably, and it'll keep coals cozy in the bottom of the stove for 20 hours easily. This is great most of the time, but not if you have undersized the stove for your house, and you're trying to shove a load of wood through it every 4-5 hours during a cold snap. You have to weigh how often you would need to burn like this(or let the furnace help out) against how well the stove works cruising on 1-2 loads /day the rest of the year.

Between the Fv and the PE Spectrum, you have best-in-class for cat and non-cat 2-cu-ft stoves. . .but you might be happier with a 3-cu-ft stove. ==c

Yes, sometimes you have to 'educate' a seller.

Myriad sounds pretty good. Personally, I like having a bypass for the secondary plumbing. Hopefully, the bypass door is easy to get to for maintenance. Looks like $750, if you can pick up at the store.:)

we dont have any Northern Tools or Menards up here in the northeast.. lowes, HD and TSC about it

after reading those links it looks like the NC30 and Drolet have basically the same useable firbox size and yeah I like the idea of the bypass on the drolet

I also like the baffle and lack of tubes

theres a place in NH that lists rebuilt stoves to like new condition blah blah blah, so I emailed asking what they got and one of the responses they sent

"The reason people buy rebuilt is because of the long burn time. You won't get it with new stoves because they all have ashpans and they burn faster. And the older stoves lasted 20 to 30 years and that won't happen with the new ones. But it is very expensive to rebuild them. Parts and shipping are high plus buying the stove and doing all the work to bring it back to new. "

emmm.... old stoves = long burn times?? yeah ok

It's called marketing..lol.

That's definately an old Hearthstone. My brother has the same style feet on his Hearthstone 1 and his stove is from 1978. Just be careful and make sure the price matches the age.

So old soapstone stoves are no good? Didn't realize that its that old

Tell that to my 1990ish Fireview that I com
