Fabricated a 45 ft. "lofting jib", hinged at bottom, lowered over tree at 45 degrees, rigged to trunk, pulled with skidder. Pics are pretty cool.

Cool!
Will it stay up on it's own?
Are you going to try to save the tree?

We'll cable it down. We wrapped it with something similar to "cedar breather" two thirds of the way up, then anchored cables into rocks. The tree was moved into place about ten years ago. I work on a large estate and yes, they want to TRY and save the tree. The whole operation took three months from planning to fabrication to execution.

Saving a white pine...now there's a first for me.

A true "Tree hugger" . LOL :)

I'm just baffled why? But, to each his own!

I understand why you did it, it's work! I just can't imagine it still living after being uprooted. But hey it's there money and you know more about it then I would ever care to. It was no shots taken at you and if it came off that way I apologize.

This thread will be 300 pages away from the top of the forum before you know if this tree makes it or not, but I'd love to hear the outcome.

Well, the owners spent a lot to transplant it there. That's nothing! You guys should see the 400 ton white oak we moved!

Tmac, I worked for a large estate once too. And yeah, we did crazy things like transplanting mature trees occasionally.

I'm guessing you work somewhere in Dutchess County? ;)
