Hello

First I want to say this is not a permanent venting solution and it is not recommended for unattended use.

To test a stove without too much fuss, I found a 2-3/4" ID muffler adapter pipe at auto zone.

The OD is the same diameter as a pellet stove exhaust vent flange. By using a radiator type clamp to clamp down the 3" flex venting and some foil tape, it can be attached to the stove adapter fitting in the exhaust system.

The other end is the easy part. Just add a flex pipe adapter and connect that to a stove adapter.

Great for a temporary connection that is safe as long as the stove has the required clearance and floor protection.

Maybe I am a little excentric but Just think of these 2 common scenarios:
LOL

1.
"Hey dear your buddy is coming over with his pellet stove again"
"Ok dear, I will go get the extra hearth pad and extender!"

2.
"Hey dear it is so cold and stormy, I wish we could move the stove out to the middle of the room tonight?"
Ok, dear I will get the extra hearth pad and extender"

LOL

Actually, I am using this piece to test a stove, so I do not have to re-adjust the height of the venting to accommodate the vent flange just for a one time test.

Don I think this works great for testing a pellet stove, but why the heck would anyone pull a heavy pellet stove in the middle of the room on a cold night? I am scratching my head on this! Crank the damn thing up if your cold LOl!

You are right! Just trying to find other reasons to use it, but there really are none! LOL

I always bring my stove to my friends house so I can stay warm when i go there says no one EVER. but if you want to use the adapter for testing a stove out side its a good idea

No not outside. I would not need any venting outside.

It is so I can test out a stove in my workshop. Just pull the workshop pellet stove out a little and plug in the the test stove. :)

Like when the auto mechanics put a flex pipe on the car exhuast to the outside so they can run the engine inside to test the car. :)
See pic

Stove exhaust flanges are different heights, this way I can test any stove no matter how high the exhaust flange is off the floor! :)

What if you added a T to your vent pipe and cap it when not in use so you dont have to disconnect your stove everytime you want to test a stove

I tried that, but the test stove will blow smoke inside the other stove!

What about if they are both running?

Besides burning up at about 120 degrees inside, it may work.

I tried that too, the drafting is not right when you run both so the stove with the weaker draft does not burn right.

not sure if they make it but if you put a y in the smoke will not go down should only go up or add a damper to block the main stove. there has got to be a better way then disconnecting the stove every time if you do this alot I am not sure. If its once in a while then no big deal.

I do that in the shed with a T

then add the same Y in the garage and you will never have to move the stove again use your adapter and a cap finished.

The garage has DT venting so I cannot do it the same way. Also there is no room on either side of the garage stove. The garage stove is very easy to pull out. Not really a problem doing it this way. I just have to order a flex adapter and stove adapter to the test stove end of the flex pipe and I will be all set.

Hey don, get a small section of the home saver ultra pro from copperfield, that stuff is like a slinky and does t retain shape. You can coil it up when not used.

Thanks Scott, good idea for a quick test.

I have a 3-4T doing this for shop stove and office stove

Wow that is a little more permanent than I would like.
Also it may be hard to keep that big horizontal run clean?

3" in to 4" in to 6" Class A

Wow, Is the 6" class A for a wood stove?

I hope that power cord is not too close? Looks like that safety tag is in danger?
