Got 4 of those now, but none that small anymore.
Smallest is about 75lbs.
They LOOOOOVE to take walks and play fetch. The youngest learned to catch a frisbee in mid-air. Very cool.
Find a lake and take her. Throw a ball or stick in the water and watch how quickly she goes from a splashing goof, to a streamlined water dog. Also, very cool.
This all said presuming you haven't had one yet.
If you have, ignore all this.

This dog is really sweet. We had two labs up until a week and a half ago. The three yr. old female, (shown in my avatar) had a sudden unexplainable death. I found her at the foot of our stairs. She had been out and seemed just fine. No prior history. We went out for a while and came home finding her there very much gone. She and the other dog made fantastic company for me. I am mostly retired. Only work a few hours a month and I work those at home. Having two labs seemed to be well suited for my wife and me. So, I am not getting any younger, no time to waste. We went out and bought this pup. We met the parents. The breeder just does labs. His pets are the parents. this one is purebread, but I am not going to do the papers on her. I did on the others, but had them fixed. So no good reason to paper them and pay that money out.
thanks for the kind words. I'll try to post pictures as she grows up.

I used to fret about getton on the beds and funiture. Now I just throw blankets down, and put covers on the bed that I don't need to worry about. I would rather have their freindship than to worry about dirty feet.
We even took most the rugs out and have gone with hard flooring.

Labs are one of the best.
Help keep you young :)

Sorry, I forgot about your recent loss.
We have a lab/golden mix and her only male pup (who was almost white when 1st born), plus another yellow male, and a choc. female.....the mom and pup are best buds and play incessantly.
Well, they do until they crash.
They love to chew...which is why I can't keep kindling in the stove room.>> Most bedding that gets put down turns into scraps in pretty short order.
Sweeping the floor has become another almost full time job.

I can't show my wife this thread or I will end up getting a lab puppy within the next 48 hours.

Sweet dog, enjoy her!
Nothing wrong with having a happy wife! And, somewhere inside, you know you will be happy too!
we had a family gathering for Easter today. Very blessed. All my 4 kids, and everyone of their family members came. The new pup is a big hit with all of them. Of couse I should mention that they all have dogs!

My wife wants a golden retriever..but we will wait until the kids are a weeee bit older! 5 months and 2.5 years makes for long days...couldn't imagine a puppy in top of that !

Goldens are wonderful dogs. My daughter has a 7 month old one who is a handful while in his puppy stage.
Sounds like you have a real growing family. When you are ready for your Golden, there is only one thing better, get two. They keep each other company.

Good for you Save...she's a cutie.

I have two Goldens and they are great! Going to pick up the younger one from the vet tomorrow from his overly expensive surgury since he decided to eat stuff that he cannot digest...I will watch him closer now! Retrievers in general are great dogs...

We do the same putting down the blankets.. Minimal rugs as well... Pups always slept on our bed at night,,, as soon as you felt him or her get up and start moving around,,, you know it's time to go out,, middle of the night or not,, it made for really quick house breaking and saved a clean up in the house... We've done it with all of our pups,, it's always worked out great..once to big for the bed they just slept in their own dog bed by our bed... The smaller breeds could sleep on our bed as they grew up.. I do wipe their feet before they come in if my dogs have been out running in the woods with me and have muddy feet..in fact my one dog always stops inside the front porch and will wait for a foot wipe or a tap on the back to say it's OK to go into the house,,, pretty smart they are...
