I've read on here that some like to use metal roofing panels to top cover their wood. This appeals to me since I hate tarps. Tarps tend to fly around and degrade quickly. Since I don't have a source for used panels, I am thinking of buying new ones. Anyone buy new for this? Any recommended places to buy?

I'm thinking these "economy" panels would suffice: http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/100024...d=10051&N=5yc1vZapwh&R=100024449#.UVw8h6PJIf4

Go to any supplier and ask for cover sheets. roofing like that is shipped with a sheet on top to protect during shipping. Lumber yards and hardware stores will typically sell them at a discount and may even cut to certain lengths for you.

Great idea. thanks

I have some fiberglass corrugated panels and the wind keeps blowing them off no matter how much weight I put on them.

I had a bunch of old doors and some plywood floored pallets that worked nice but they have disintegrated.

Like Swagler 85 said , get the cover sheets . A good place to check is with folks that do pole buildings ,metal carports etc....
A good way to secure them once they are installed is with a few lengths of rope across the sheets .It only has to keep the sheets from starting to move .

I use metal roofing. Still blows off occasionally. I weigh mine down with concrete blocks. Have some that just blew off yesterday. I had a lot of weight on those sheets but has been extremely windy lately. Recently, I was in home depot and those sheets are like 36 bucks each. Pricey.

Fiberglass will work okay. Just have to fasten them down tight. Run some screws through them into the wood then add weight besides or tie them down.

When I make my racks all my metal is cover sheets or what I bought at a auction. I get my lumber also at the same lumber yard here in town too, 2.00 each crooked bark what ever- no matter what it is 2x4- 2x6 and so on any length if it is in the pile. Go to home depot or your local lumber yard and ask for cover sheets or seconds. They should run around 15.00 per sheet. Cover sheets are free for the lumber yards so what ever they get is profit, so don't be afraid offer less than they are asking.
