Is This a good price to drop trees, $300 ???

Price quoted is for felling only, taking the whole clump of trees down , I do all limbing, bucking and clean up.

I was going to take a couple down myself but, upon closer inspection found some high limbs intertwined a little with the other trees

No stump grinding,he is just going to put them on the ground, and I take it from there.

Seems pretty high to me for a chop and drop. Tree service prices around here are pretty cheap though as the market is pretty well flooded with small independent crews. I have no idea what things go for up in your area.

Hard to say from the pictures if any bucket work is needed, but if it is $300 sounds OK.

Price seems very reasonable. Most times the tree service will have a min charge thay they need to charge on small jobs....i.e. usually 2-3 guys to driver out, fuel, cost of truck, chipper etc... For $300 that is reasonable as most companies around here won't touch a job unless its going to be $500 plus.

Seems fair, that's what I paid for the 3 big gums I had dropped back in February.
If it can be reached with a bucket truck and a couple of runners on the ground the job might be done in 30mins.
I had two quotes -gave a new company a chance and ended up with the guy that has done a few that were leaning back over the pool a few years ago.

The guy from the newer company showed up a couple weeks later saw the stacks of wood and inquired how much he'd been outbid.
Just told him needs to more than sharpen his pencil...maybe break it in half

That is a great price IMO. I was quoted a willow tree take down and a few yrs ago in the off season and the tree service wanted $1200, and that wasn't near any buildings..But it would have had to come down in pieces.

Ya I think it was a real fair price.and I will have him back for the 2 dead oaks by the house.
The guy earned his money on the last one , had to climb and take it down piece by piece, from top down.

Last one is by/in the driveway,other 4 on other side of fence, but only 50ft or so to get around fence, but might make a new hole in it, cuz , wire fence is kinda screwed anyway, tree grew into fence there, old county fence.

Ya it was, his son was unavailable yesterday so I was the gofer,helper,human winch , and it was fun.
This guy is 60 years young

Oh ya he knew what he was doing, 30 years experience, unlike the 20 year old kids that came out for an estimate, when I started asking them how they were going to bring them down, I got some scary answers,

Not free firewood ,but they were a danger, and last week I saw a half dollar size hole in the bottom of one, it was the ants were getting to it, so It needed to be done now.

From my experience, the tree service guys will quote you a good price if they only have to operate their saws to drop the tree(s). It's the removal and stump grinding that really adds to the cost. This is where having your own firewood production skills can save you big $$.

Not free firewood ,but , it was the ants were getting to it, so It needed to be done now.

Were those trees victims of the EAB? I see more down Ash in the woods here than Oaks, I would say, and that accursed bug is not even here yet...

Sorry Woody, I must have overlooked this, Yes it was just him and me.
The guy put on his ropes and gear climbing spikes , he cut off all the limbs as he went up the tree , the top part he put a line on it which I took off into the wooded area , when he was ready he told me to pull and down came the top .
He cut two more sections off the tree, but these two, while doing the back cut he was cutting with one hand and pushing on the section with the other hand and down they came.
Cutting Down on the ground the last section he had tied a line on the top, while I pulled when he said the word, to guide it with a little extra insurance from hitting the cement driveway and possibly cracking it .
I will tell you what ! that is not something I would want to do every day , that has got to be hard work hanging off the tree like that, using a saw with one hand .

Yes the trees are victims of the EAB, among other trees I have already cut down, and there is more around my property waiting to be cut , most are smaller than those and not close to buildings. There are tons of dead ash all over this whole area, and I guess all over Michigan
