Anybody have any input on these inserts? Local dealer sells them and he says he really likes them. Just trying to gather info on them. Somebody has to have one

Enviro makes a very good product. There are several owners here of the Kodiak line. Some have the fancier Boston or Venice cast iron facades. If you do a search on Enviro in the title only, you will get a lot of threads showing up.

Our is top dealer in ontario for Enviro and we love those units. They fit in tighter openings than P.E. and the 1700 out heats the super 27 insert. warrenty are the same and enviro is easy to deal with

Really liked the Enviro Boston 1700 when I saw it in person. Seems to be about the largest of the cast front wood inserts and one of the nicest looking too, and I believe it allows ns loading, along with the Hampton 300 and Aderlea T5. But of them I think the 1700 is the largest firebox. In the end decided that firebox closer to 3 cf and Summit's ebt were more important to me than cast, but was torn.

I bought the Boston Enviro 1700 in the beginning of December 2012 and heated my whole 1700 sq ft 2 story colonial exclusively with it. Burn times are as advertised I usually get 10 hours if I pack it up. The glass stays very clean, the blower is quiet, seems to be holding up well looks no different inside then when I first got it minus some ash between the firebricks. I am very happy with this insert. If you have any other questions let me know.

I had the Kodiak 1700 in my old house. Only had for a couple of seasons, but I loved it.

now i have decisions to make...the kodiak 1700 or the buck 91...thanks for the info guys

I came this close to buying an Enviro insert. I think it was a Kodiak 1200. My local dealer had the similar Enviro and Lopi models. I ended up going with the Lopi only because it was slightly cheaper and made more locally. The Enviro was very tempting though and I've only heard good things about them. Between the Lopi and Enviro there really wasn't a bad choice. I'm sure I'd be just as happy with the Enviro.

Don't you have an 8 inch liner installed already? If so, I'd go with the Buck.

went and looked at the enviro venice 1700 today...gotta say i was impressed with the looks and construction

Good going. It's a nice insert.

The Enviro's are built like tanks and simple to operate. If my ZC unit in this new house was rated for an insert, I would have another Enviro.

Anyone know if they make an extension for the Enviro's to reduce the depth needed? Would love to get the Enviro 1700 but I don't have the clearance

No, they don't. Sorry

How close are you? You could shim out the surround an inch pretty easily by attaching some black painted 1" aluminum angle or square stock to the surround edges

with the boston 1700 or the venice I would need two inches. I am reading now that the Boston has a Multi position, easy on surround panel to reduce depth of unit by up to 2 inches.

anyone have any experience with this?

I was speaking for the Kodiak. Not sure about the Venice or Boston.
