So Cent ALASKA
Got about a cord total.
75% spruce 20 % birch 5% cottonwood.

Piles were all mixed, some junk birch but the spruce was good.
Thermometer said 26° but was down to a sweat shirt in no time.

The load:

Oh how you suffer to have such a view while you work! Nice scrounge!

Looks good bogy, the mountains even better.

Looks like you suffered through some miserable hard work with a miserable view on a miserable cold day. ;)

Wood was dirty so the chain was dull by the time I had a load.
Bierch was wet & heavy , sap must be starting ,
Cottonwood & spruce were fairly light.

Cord here & there start adding up.

Spruce good shoulder wood, need a months worth now.
The work was hard but it was a nice day to be out there working :)

Nice load there Bogy. Was that some more right away clearing ?

Some guy clearing a lot, not sure why.
Trees were cut & partly limed with chain saw, then drug & stacked with an excavator is my guess.
Some dirt & ice, some broken .
Mostly spruce & cottonwood, few birch
Might be enough there to get another load (cord + ) of spruce.
I'll heal up for a day , & may go back Monday if it's still there.

I dont know that i would get any work done with that view dave. Id stare at them mountains all day. let me ask you does that snow ever melt on the top of the mountains? It seems like there is snow there in july. if you need a hand splitting just let me know, ill take the trip just to see the scenery. lol

Nice job Dave.....as usual.
Much easier (still not easy though) when someone else does the limbing. Limbing Spruce is a chore.
Just recently did about 2/3 cord of it, and it's all stacked. Might be able to use it this fall.
How do you (or do you even) clean the sap off the saw?

Nice straight logs...........looks pretty easy to get

EASY!
"No such thing as easy firewood, some just easier than other"

Looks are deceiving. stacked up hill from the access road.
Birch was wet & heavy with logs intertwined & no room to use the PU to pull the logs out of the pile .
Back & shoulders sore from handling it 3 times so far.

When the snow melts, then split & stack , let it season then move to the shed.

When spruce is cold, the sap is hard & not an issue ;)
Was 5° the night before I cut, & ice on the shady side of the logs, frozen sap.
If you have to cut it in spring & summer, sticky mess.

Will be sticky when I go to split it next month.
Maybe I should put the splitter in the garage, get it warmed up & go split it before it warms up.

Can always use help ;)

Some years the snow is all gone by 1st part of August .Then starts working it's way down by the end of Aug
Depends on how much is up there & if we get a warm dry summer.
Last year was a cool summer

Cut the first one when my sis-in-law was last here, and that was well over a month ago.
Still pretty sappy. I quit when I got to the top.....just way too many small closely spaced branches to mess with for some 2" rounds.
I'll buck it up into 2-3' sections and use in the pit, branches and all.
My gloves are now like statues.
This is what I found in the 2nd tree. Ants.

There's a big one there that has the center carved up by ants.
To big for my saw, 30" or so.

Nice work Dave. At least you didn't have to skid the logs out. Have to look on the bright side.

Being able to get some wood this time of the year is a blessing.
April usually is "break-up" with no much outside work getting done.
Forgot how much work a full cord of wood is. Great weather though.
Sore but a good sore :)

Nice work Dave and thanks for the great pics...wood looks good too ;). Grab a cold one and get some well deserved rest.

I'd add binoculars to my cutting kit. Then I'd waste a bunch of time looking at the view.

Way to get 'er done, Dave!
