I was looking at tillers today, and the dealer has a 346 XP he forgot he had. Found it in the attic. I got the feeling he doesn't want to discount it much. I was trying to make a package deal ;)

My small saw is a MS270, and I don't use it much. It's too much of a PITA to start.

Depends on how much he wants - is it brand new? Did he give you a price? If it's new, and he's had it a while and forgot about it, throw $400 cash on the table and see what happens! Good luck! Cheers!

At the right price ;)
What's he asking? Were $510 new.
I think the 550xp is the new replacement
Nice light weight powerful saw ;)

Doesn't hurt to try. My BIL got a new 290 when he bought a JD ZTR...for "free".

That would most likely be near or below cost. There is no reason to go that low on a brand new 346XP. Probably could get near retail for it easily.

That's what I was thinking. He's supposed to call me today when he gets the tiller out of the warehouse. I'll have to see what he wants for both.

Any opinion on Husqvarna tillers, by the way?

The 346 is simply the nicest saw I have ever run. It is light, comfortable and with a slight muffler mod, it is just a mean SOB. I'd grab it in a heartbeat, unless you're interested in auto tune. If so get a 550.

Throw that 270 on craigslist.

That's the kind of encouragement I was looking for ;)

I know AT is working well, but I just don't know if I'm ready for that technology in a chainsaw. If I buy this, I shouldn't have to worry about it. I'll be dead before the saws.

Ok you like a 346 over a 372? (guess it just depends on the wood)

I'd take a 550xp any day over the 346. My 346 hasn't left my garage since I got the 550. Next time it does leave the garage, it will be going to a new home. 346 is a great saw, but the 550 is just better IMO. If you're in the market for a 50cc pro saw, then go 550. If your just trying to score a deal, then go for the 346.

What are 550xp's going for new at the dealers?

As much as I like to KISS that 550 looks impressive. I put my 361 up for sale with the idea I might get an auto tune to try out. There is a guy on cl that has been trying to sell a 'like new' 550 for 475 for a loooong time...

Sorry, no real experience. Have kicked the tires and they seem ok. I miss the old troy-bilt models tho. Real heavy-duty tillers go for a pretty penny these days.
