With this weather late in the season it is causing issues with the skools, the kiddies with probably be going to skool till mid-June.
Within the last few weeks, schools have been closed 1x, let out early 1x, and delayed 2 hours 3x.
That is more than then they had from October-Feb.

Still burning, actually I had to switch from nightly burning back to 24-7 last week to keep the house in the 70's due to lack of thermal heating.

There are multiple problems with late season burning.
1) Using up wood that was meant for Fall of 2013 burning
2) Due to snow in woods unable to get into woods to cut more wood
3) When snow finally melts it will probably be late June early July before the woods dries enough to get into woods.
4) Cutting wood in late June to early July means cutting in hot temps
5) Since I am cutting and splitting 2 months late wood will not have time to dry enough to use in Fall.
6) Cresote buildup due to poor wood.

The weather forecasted that it is going to get into the 50's next week, but they also forecasted that last Wednesday was supposed to be dry with temps in the upper 40's (had 4" of snow with high temps around 36).

People seem to complain a lot every spring until we all start getting some warm weather. This spring has been a bit cool but for the most part it has been rather normal, or more like what we've had in the past. Certainly not like last spring but we do not want another spring like last year.

I bought some enviro-bricks from TS at the end of February and should have bought 10 more packs as they were on sale and used them up. Four of them were perfect for a3 or 4 hour burn with little chance of creosote. I think next fall I will buy 20 or 30 packs and just have them on hand if needed.

True enough. Thanks for putting things in perspective (I'm still gonna whine a bit when the snow flies this weekend).

I'm not tired of burning wood yet. Rain mixed with snow tonight, so the house needs to be toasty.

Yeah also still like lighting the stove, guess I'm just tired of Ma Nature dangling the carrot now.

I have about 4-5 days of my last spring cherry splits to burn, then left with about 1/2 cord of ash and oak in the bar - was hoping to leave it for next winter, but looks like I'll be using some - not supposed to get above 60 for the next 10 days after today. Hoping for a warm start to May! Cheers!

We are burning as much wood now as in Feb. of this year. Five days of snow, arose yesterday to +4 F. and didn't go above 17 F. all day. Sunny today, up to 23 F. heat wave. We've had over two feet of snow this past week. The snow in April is not unusual—every 2 or 3 yr. we'll have a good bit of snow this time of year, but we usual experience temp's in the 30s-40s during these snowfalls. Not this yr., we saw 2 below zero a couple weeks back. Killed those tiny new leaves on the blueberries and honeyberries right well. Very cold spring here in Colorado, burning all the stoves at night.

Wow Steve that's brutal! Remind me to never move there! ;)

We have some cold weather moving in (the winds are rocking the trees real good at the moment) so we pushed in a couple of loads of two year old pine with some bigtooth aspen.

Saturday night they say it will drop to 19.
Damn Zap it was almost 79 here today! Gonna cool off but nothing that cold.. May not run the stove much more this spring.. I hope! Meanwhile the stacking continues..

We were in the 70's too, I put in a call to Mother Nature for more wood, we'll see what tomorrow brings for wind. If it's not real bad, up top I go.

I have been wondering why you only use 1.2 cord a year when there is no shortage wood there..

No shortage you have correct, the 1.2, I only wish we burned that little. We burned just under 1 cord of shoulder season wood.

Ah OK that makes sense :) I probably misread an older post you made..

Our stacks are .61 of a cord, you must have seen we had 1.2 cord of cherry left, about two racks.

The groundhog needs to die.
This is truly funny- had a "wellness instructor" visit yesterday, said she's visiting the locals first because everyone is so bumm'ed about this spring storm.. She's concerned about people becoming docile and lax until the snow stops falling. I'm sure she had good intentions.
If I had a chunk of I-beam nearby, I would have whacked her in the head.
SoCal transplant, nobody would've noticed.>>
