Got 3.5 cords stacked already in the back yard. Most of whats in the pic will be for winter 2015. Think I'll only split another cord or two then hold off until fall. Goal is to get about 12 cords by fall stacked

Nice, it's a nice feeling when you get ahead isn't it? I would split all you have now so it will have one more summer to season.

Good work. It's nice to get ahead so you can be more selective in your future scrounging.

Nice work USMC80, once you get that far ahead you can go at your own pace, or you can keep pounding it out!

Yea, most of us are onboard with that. ;)

Good to get it all stacked so it can start seasoning .
Got a few big rounds to split up (poplar & a base from a maple? )

Yea, getting ahead is a good feeling.
Staying ahead is much easier that getting there.

Looking good!

think the bases are from Ash, thats what the guy said anyway. They seem kind of on the light side as I was able to lift them

That is a nice pile USMS80 and ya beat the hotter weather to boot

ya learned my lesson from previous years splitting in the heat of the summer

Even if I didn't have to keep going, I probably would. Yes, I have a problem. ;lol But at least I'm getting the situation in hand to the point where I can take a break on the really bad days. Last summer was crazy though; It could be well into the 90s but didn't feel too hot because of the freakishly low humidity (sub-40% in the heat of the day.) Don't want drought, but it makes cutting wood in the heat a little easier...

I would, and I do, keep right after it. Right now I am getting ready to start cutting , splitting and stacking for 2017. All other years are split, stacked and covered. Right now we have on hand close to +21 cord.

This is great that you are now in a position where you can take it a bit easy. Just keep pecking away only a little at a time. I would not stop splitting but would certainly make the splitting sessions a lot shorter and spend more time with family and friends.

got about 70 percent stacked. Still another 2.5 cords to stack and another cord to split. Great feeling.

Looks good! You can stack much higher if you cross stack the ends well.

Ya gonna be great in two winters, might struggle a little this winter but the ash that i split in april should get me through ok. Figure I have about 8 cords split and stacked with another cord split and two more unsplit. Finish that and I'm done until the fall atleast lol.
