Around here that's about $300-$600 depending on age and condition. Pellets will still fetch around full price, so two ton @ $200 a ton (around here). That's about $700-$1,000 at best.

But there is an @ss for every seat. Some people just have no idea what they have? His buddy prob told him, that his Uncle bought a pellet stove for $3,800 (Harman Accentra) and with pellets and install was just under $5,000.... So maybe he thinks that he has one of those expensive stoves too? Especially if it came with his house and he doesn't know any better?? Anything is possible.
