It won't be long now Bogy and you can start working on those tomatoes.

Tomatoes? No, he is gonna grow corn and distill it! :p

Nice woodpile there though. I am envious to a point, but then again, I am not in Alaska and I have denser woods available here. After this season I am done with cottonwood and poplar.

Mtns... Mtns... Mtns... Mtns... Mtns... Mtns!!!!. Mts is Mounts! ::-):p

That splitter looks almost like mine. It's a Swisher?

looks like a black/yellow SpeeCo logo over the motor on the beam

+1 on that first pic, hang it on the wall! That birch round is sweet!:D

Brought in 10 cottonwood rounds from one nice straight log.
Only wood I've had that splits nice & straight.
I will say it's the best/easiest splitting wood I've split ;)
Will be like balsa wood, light weight & burn fast. Might be Fire pit wood.

Was going to stack it today but woke up to rain/snow mix.
Just rain now.
At least the rain will help the lakes & rivers thaw faster & maybe
melt the ice on the north side of the shed & stacks.

Not quite balsa wood, but it stinks when burned, so its not my fire pit wood. I use cedar for that. I burn c-wood in my stove when I will not be outside, or if my crappy neighbor happens to be outside. Let him enjoy the aroma of cat pee... I do a lot of smoking using alder, apple, cherry and maple, and they all smell so good. Doug fir, pine and cedar smell good as well. But cottonwood... gag. That stuff is really bad.

Rain? Never heard of it... ::P

California weather has come to visit us today. Though it was snowing here a few weeks ago, and it was freezing 2 nights ago... and we had a heavy 'moisture event' this weekend when it was supposed to be warm and clear... but 80 degree weather is coming to visit us this weekend.

Have burned some cottonwood but never outside to notice the odor.
Burn it when out camping, some place is about all there is.

Now that I have enough birch to fill the shed,
I might try some aspen this year.
Early shoulder season wood.
Maybe regulate the stove output down a little so I can burn without having to open windows.

I saw that Summer arrived in the Seattle area.
BIL in Kent, WA.

Golf weather !
Hope it stays thru November :)

The cottonwood we have doesn't smell when burned that I have noticed. I burned about 75-80% cottonwood this winter and it worked just fine other than leaving more ashes in the stove than birch... well and not lasting quite as long.

I have to say, "today's mts." look suspiciously similar to those of a couple weeks ago. ;lol
Still look fabulous though, as does that "mountain" of wood.

Mountain views are nice, but you do get used to them. In this area there are views of several Cascade peaks, including Adams, St. Helens, Hood, Jefferson and Rainier. Though most days they are obscured by clouds, rain, fog, snow, smog, haze or smoke. Or in late summer Hood becomes a big barren grey rock.

It was 'snowing' here today... my flowering cherry tree blossoms were flying in the wind like crazy. 75 degree 'snow'.

It was here snowing today too. Actual snow. They are calling for rain/snow tonight and through the weekend as well.

Well, lots of snow in the upper Midwest on the news tonight. Its a mess from Arkansas up through Iowa to Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Rain off & on today.
May get out & get it stacked.
Late Spring/Summer for several North America locations this year.

Most of the "low land" snow is gone, some golf courses to open, but ground still soupy in places.
Weather reported we are 10° below normal.
