Scored this pile in a vacant property a couple blocks from my house!! Took me all of 20 min to drive over, load it up and drive home! It's heavy stuff so I hope it's good! Any of you guys know what this might be??

It's one of the Maples. Silver or Norway maybe?

That makes since, I think we have a lot of silver around here.

Is Norway or silver considered hard maples?

I vote bradford pear, is that possible? Bark and color of the wood is similar(dark orange). Good firewood if it is.

I believe they are the soft maples, but I am no expert on them. In my area there is so much Red Oak and Black Locust, that I rarely deal with any other species.

Is Norway or silver considered hard maples?
Hard maple is a common name for sugar maple. Soft maple usually refers to red or silver which are sometimes called swamp maple too.

I'm def thinking its a maple. Not sure which one but its def some heavy stuff!

Norway maple is popular for flooring and furniture so how "soft" can it be?:p

So is Pine.

Maple of some kind
Some split pic might help get a positive ID?
All, any of the maples is/are good firewood.
You did good!

Get it split & stacked, it'll get punky quick in rounds. ;)
Center has already started .

Heavy means lots of water !

Nice score!

I'd go with Norway, doesn't have the bark of a silver maple that I have seen.

I'll get it split today and post more pics. Thanks so far for the help guys!

Here is what it looks like split.
