......chaps that is. After a near miss that tore through a pair of jeans I figured it was time.

Smart! :)

Your lucky! I bought a pair a few months ago, cheaper than an ER deductible. Next the helmet with face and ear protection is on the list. Safe Cutting!

Wife & granddaughter got me a pair for Christmas
Hope they always look new,
but one nick & they paid for them selves many times over ;)

26 years ago when I whacked my leg the ER bill was $325 to stitch it back together. My insurance deductible was $300. Insurance paid a quarter.

I haven't started a saw without chaps on since. They won't stop everything but they help stop the most likely thing. And cost less than most good jeans these days.

I bought some at TSC last week for half off. They were cheap, and I'll keep them for backup. Hopefully they'll never come out of the package.

I don't know why anybody would cut without them. Besides, I have these nice boxer briefs that just really make them look sexy when I'm cutting in them.

Um....now how am I suppose to get the image out of my mind?!

I started with the ear, eye and hand protection....my legs felt left out until now.

Glad to hear you were not hurt. And even more relieved to hear you learned a lesson. ;)

Now if only it didn't take a near miss to motivate safety gear purchases....

FWIW: I HATE wearing my 9 layer full wrap chaps if it's over 60 deg out but I hate being stuck on the couch, broke, and in pain, more. That much I know from experience. <> (not chainsaw related)

I'm thinking of trying out a set of apron style chaps or "summer" logging pants.
