I finished reloading my stacks for the year yesterday. This brings me back to about 13 cords c/s/s. The newly stacked wood is about 3 cords Black Locust, 1 cord Red Oak, and 1/2 cord Norway or Silver Maple. This is scheduled for 2015-16 and the last of it might end up starting 2016-17. Here's some pictures from early January through yesterday. This is just about all that I can fit on my suburban .25 acre.

Happy to be done before the hot weather two years in a row now. I have next year's supply lined up already. I'll be picking away at cutting and stacking about 3 cords of White Oak at a friends place over the coming months. I'll bring it home to split and stack as I make room for it next winter.

Looks like some room between the sheds? I've got 10 cords total with about 2 to still work on, splitting and stacking. I found some nice logs that I will go see if they are still there in about 5 years. I'm all out of room myself. My next challenge will be to get it all covered.

The rusted metal shed is my neighbor's. The one on the other side of the fence is the other neighbor's. Remember this is on 1/4 acre.

You've done well Steve.

Nice! I think I might be done cutting and splitting for now too. I just need to move it from the random stacks and piles in the woods to the proper resting place. I think I have around 8 cord now which is about 2.5 years worth. Should get to 11 or 12 cord pretty easy this fall, then I'll hit the magical 3 year ahead mark. A day to finish moving the wood, then it's garden time!

Things of beauty.
Good feeling , eh?

Very nice work !

Feels good to be done before the hot weather comes doesn it? I just have a small pile to cut and split and Ill be done also, some times yard work gets in the way.

Nice to be done already....but I can still see grass, you got more room

What are the specs for your house, how many cord do you go through a year? Congrats!

Nice!
Those look like some pretty tall stacks...
I'll still be stacking a bit more here, but will be doing a lot of cutting and dumping rounds at the in-laws for them to split and stack. If I can get the score behind my MIL's house, I'll work that up; That would be a few cords I would not have to haul over there, but it's Oak, so it's not wood for this year...

13 cords in 1/4 acre. WOW!!!!! Its soo nice not having to play catchup, when your ahead of the ball game.

I burn about 4 cords per year. The house is two floors and about 1800 sq.ft., drafty, and poorly insulated. My stove is not centrally located on the main floor so 1/2 of the main floor needs help from the propane fueled furnace in the colder weather, but the second floor is comfy in all but the coldest and windiest weather.

I worked my a$$ off getting this far ahead, and 2011-12's unusually warm weather helped too. Now it is fairly easy to replace 4 cords per year. If I had more room, I could easily have another 4 cords on hand with all the storm damage around here over the last two years.

Lookin' good there Steve! We have around the same amount of wood ;) You can fit quite a bit of wood in a yard of that size! Heck I have 8 cord on 2 rows of pallets a total of 50 running feet.. Bet you fit more easily if you wanted to..

I stack three rows deep on pallets for about 90 running feet. It is most of one property line.

That looks awesome, Steve !! Nice, nice work !

Makes for a great looking boundary in my opinion! Didn't you recently get a huge wood score on some massive trees too?

Looks good but as others have said I still see grass!
I'm in the same situation as you being on a .25 acre and running out of room.

Once I get my driveway full of rounds and splits stacked into the backyard I will start loading up my parents backyard a town away.
They are wood burners also but they just do it for looks mostly because they like their house 55-60degrees.

I liked it in the 60';s myself, before I started burning. Towards the end of winter, 70 started feeling a bit chilly. I keep a large pile of rounds in the driveway also. I have split them in the driveway, then wheel barrow to the stack in the back yard. I tried something different. I hauled whole rounds close to the stack spot and split them there. Much easier to stack with it all piled there in front of the stack.

I guess there comes a time, and when you're done for the year, you're done ...
I definitely prefer to do my cutting and splitting in the cold weather.

I'm still waiting for the snow to melt and the ground firm up a bit. I walked out in the backyard earlier today and sank to my ankles.

I almost got my tractor stuck in my muddy lawn in January. We never really had a good frost down here this winter. It didn't really get cold until February.

Perhaps you should also consider taking it easy on the body for a while too Nate. It doesn't matter which bone, they take time to heal.
