Yesterday was cloudy but warm, and then it rained and cooled off a bunch.

Last night at 11 it was still 70F in the house, but not this morning :(

I got up at 6 and it was only 65F in here.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, time to start the little whit back up.

It is happily munching away on some nut shells and the house is cozy again.

This week looks wet and cool all the way through and the stove will likely be called to action until the weather warms up again.

Sits Warming her tooshy by the fire

Snowy

Same here snowy been running my insert at night don't like a damp house, if next year is the same looks like 9 ton to be bought

Got down to 33* last night. Going down to 36* tonight. This is day 3 the stove has kicked on (about 2-3 times a night).

The house holds a fair amount of solar gain, but outside highs have not been very high. So once the night falls? It's time for a lil heat.

Hello

It is 60 out now but Only 50 deg in the shed/workshop this morning so it needs heat for human occupation!

The R15 FG insulated walls with R4 foil on top covered with wood paneling retains heat, but also retains the overnight cold! LOL

Have to flip on the SanteFe remote starter toggle switch before I occupy!

This morning was cool too and another dose of "Stove Therapy" was needed.

I got lazy this morning and kicked the Stat on the Quad and it warm the house.

Still looking like this entire week is going to be cool and damp.

I am not going to put the stoves to bed just quite yet me thinks.

I woke up this morning to frost on my lawn. I almost planted my tomatoes last Sunday!

31 degrees last night. looks like nearly a full 8 months heating season this year.
i have officially gotten over the clean the stove and glass obsessively stage.

35 here last night, and I held off putting the tomatoes out! yay! And yea, I threw a bag of Turmans in the P61 last night as well....living room t-stat was sitting at 58 degrees when I made that monumental decision......middle of may, whoda thunk?!

Hey Lousy

I am thinking of putting a T-Stat on the P-61? The P61 is in the basement and I want the T-Stat in the hallway above it. There is also a vent cut in the floor of the hallway to bring up the heat.

Will that work ok?

hey, Don....

you can stick the t-stat on the thing, but in the few times folks have put a thermostat a goodly distance from the unit, I've found that in the general vicinity of the stove the '61 screams to get the heat up at the tstat locale.....so, if your air doesn't move very well, you get it REALLY hot where the stove is, and not so hot elsewhere.....try it and see!

As for holes in the floor, I know its already there, but cant really support that, as its a great way to communicate fire between floor levels...the hole acts as a chimney....

your results may vary

Thanks alot for your information, it makes sense. In this case, the "hole in the floor" is a 6x10 register connected to 6" ductwork and directly to the heat exchanger output of the stove. The T-Stat will be fairly close to the register. The air coming out of the register was 130 Deg F when the old stove was on medium heat level 3. (No chimney effect problem here)
So with the Harman, it just may work!
If not, I can put the T-Stat in the same room as the Harman and set accordingly to make the upstairs comfortable. I just will not know till next winter which will work. best

Don

Looks good

Yeah, the boss was giving me the look last night and this morning that she was cold. I just looked the other way... but if these temps keep up I will have to consider throwing it on overnight. I might also consider ordering more of the early bird specials as well to stock up for next year since I'm burning so late in the season.

sure...you can always try it, if it doesn't work well, you can easily revert back to the "old way".....no biggie

Last night when we got home, the house was cool, so I said screw it, and flipped the stat up on the Quad for the night and letterip.

This morning is dreary, cool and WETTTTTTTTTTTT, so tossed a nice fire in the little Whit and it looks like we may run it all day.

The Weather is supposed to be showery and cool.

Ahhhhh yesssss, Gotta love a nice fire.

Snowy

Had the little Whit on all night last night, from about 7pm and its still running.

Cool and damp out this morning, with more showers today, then rain tomorrow.

I think that we are going to be using the little Whit off and on into June a little bit.

Little stove sure is working great after the work I did on it a few weeks ago.

Running sweet, with the windows staying clear and the fire burning well.

I still love stove season.

Snowy

63 in the stove room upon awakening. 34f forecast for saturday night. it always gets colder up here than the forecast calls for.
yep. 8 month heating season this year.;lol
this gives me a little more time to track down some dry molly spray.

I was worried about what apeared to be a very early summer, but the 80F days seem to be gone and we are back to cool and wet.

Summer usually does not start rocking until Mid June around NW Oregon

I am 30 miles south of Portland at the Northern end of the Willamette valley, and live on a little range of hills thats about 1500 ft elevation.

This area gets its weather from the Pacific and winters are influenced greatly be cold arctic air that at time flows out the Columbia Gorge.

Winters can see temps dip into the low single digits, but generally the lows will bottom in the 20-30 range with some snows. Winter of 08 saw 4 feet in here for about 2 weeks around Christmas time.
Normal winters are WET with temps in the 30s- 40's range
Summers are 70's to 90's with the occasional 100 hit.
Fall sees cooler damper weather starting around mid October and stove season then too.

We are generally done with the stoves by early June, butttttttttttt every so often we might need a spot fire in July or August following a bout of T storms.

Just another day at the office

Snowy

Saturday was wet and cool, but Sunday ended up being lovely. We ran the small Whit all day Fri and Sat and up till noon on Sunday, then the sun came out and it got up to 80 F in the house, no fire last night at all.

Now the weather folks are talking Snow down to 3000 ft in the hills by Weds

Summer is not here yet.

I see at least another couple weeks if not longer of Stove use off and on.

Snowy

yep. still burning in the morning.

We have had a fire round the clock now since Monday evening.

Little Whit was not able to handle the job last night by itself, and the house was 65F this morning, soooooooo I flipped the Quad on for one round and brought it up to 70 F in here.

Was 41F out this morning, feels more like late Feb and March than late May.

Must be this Global Warming stuff ????????

Well its not warm here, for sure.

Wifey loaded it while I was at work today. I didn't want to crack another bag, but it was nice to walk into a toasty house.

43 F. for a high here today (Cascade foothills, east of PDX). Snow level down to 2500 ft. today. Raining hard and cold here. Stoking the fire, having to crank it up burning shoulder season wood.
