Nutmeg Warrior, if you haven't already done so, watch ALL of the Stihl chainsaw videos. IMO, they can be a bit long, but they are full of good tips. One of those tips may keep you from damaging your saw or yourself.

I'm happy it helped. I've always been the type who reads the manual from cover to cover, and these videos did a good job of showing what I had read. Even seasoned wood cutters can benefit from them by learning a tip or technique that they didn't know or by learning something about newer chainsaw models that can add to their maintenance routine or even prevent accidents.
