So we are buying a house and selling our current place, ours was a fixer upper and is now done so on to the next one. But that means more than just buying a house and moving, I have acquired a lot of wood and now get to move it all. It's around 12-13 cord at the moment at my house, and another 2 cord at my parents. This is gona be a job for sure. But then also will be buying 2 stoves for the new place but that's a whole different discussion. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

See if you can get a roll off dumpster and have them haul and dump it in the new place for you. Might be a major labor saver, you can open the back load it at ground level.

Day labor with a truck in the Home Depot parking lot.

I have a flat bed 12,000 lb trailer that I can use to haul. Would need to borrow my brothers f250 to pull the weight. Still gona be a lot of work though. Will probably need to wrap the skids in shrink wrap to keep them together and need a loader at both properties. One to load and one to unload. I have the tractor at my place and could find a skid loader to unload at the new house. They are only 5 miles apart. Then the stuff that isn't in skids would just be loaded and thrown off trailer.

Sounds like a good plan right there, IMO. Whatever you do, don't leave that wood behind. Too much hard work involved in all that processing......it'll be well worth the work to move it.

You're gonna be feeding 2 stoves?
Take it all you can. :)

OK, that sounds a little easier than touching every piece, which is what I first imagined. <>

Wanna sell some ;)

Just kidding. The plan with 2 loaders is the ticket.

Looking forward to your install threads this season. :).

Congrats on the new place! Definitely don't leave the wood; it would be hard to get caught back up to that level. Please post pics of the 2 new stoves! ;)

He's back home!

Well I got started yesterday with moving the stacks. I separated the skids and my wife was kind enough to wrap them with shrink wrap. I loaded three skids at a time and hauled em to the new place about 10 miles round trip. Took about 6 hours and moved 9 cord of oak so far. Made a processing area at the bottom of the hill, have a nice flat spot down there, and it's out of the way.

Nice job. Was thinking about the ability of the loader to lift the skids, or not. The 3 point has twice the lift though. Good work.

Lookin' good, Swags! You're lucky you didn't sell off that wood, I would've come out there and rattled yer cage if you did that!! ;)

Too much hard work invested in that wood to get rid of it!

BTW, how is your uncle doing? Not to change the topic, just curious how he's doing since the accident.

He is good, back home and slowly getting back into the swing of things with work and life

Great to hear you are getting the wood moved; even better to hear that your uncle is recovering well!

Moved almost all the rest if the firewood today. Moved about three cord, still have a cord +- of cherry that's in rounds to move. And one bin of uglies 1/3 cord. Once his is all stacked ill have to start movin the locust and maple over from my folks house. Dang this is tiring, remind me not to move again :)

Got 12 cord moved over so far, hoping to be to be at least 15 cord by winter.

Emptied the last trailer load this morning onto our side porch. Got 1.5 cord of maple and oak. Now I need to stack the rest of what I have piled.
