Yah, red oak has that smell to it. White oak is similar.

All these guys on this site getting free wood delivered... geez. I am living on the RoNg coast!

BTW: They usually charge the customer more to 'get rid' of the wood. Most here opt to unload it through CL ads instead of paying to dispose of it. Even cottonwood goes pretty fast.

Hey Stihlhead, don't feel like the lone ranger!... Nothing free has came my way yet, "with the exception of hurricane sandy" and people were screaming to get rid of it!
 
Ya this is the first time I've had wood dropped off at my house for free.
 
There are two things that I like about living in NJ. Free wood delivered and cut to the length you order and full service gas.

Don't forget five-figure real estate taxes on modestly small properties.
 
the only free offers i ever get are "you can have this firewood for free... all you have to do is cut it, split it, and haul it... of yeah, it's tulip poplar so it's great firewood" :mad:
 
here is the last pic, almost three deep. I'm gonna say just shy of a cord. Now to wait until it dips below 90 degrees before I ask for more
