It's 44 degrees here and I just started the wood stove. Looks like we will be burning most of this weekend. I bet a lot of you will be doing the same! Some snow spotted up near Zap.

It's crazy, crazy chit........wifey already gave me a heads-up that she expects a fire in the NZ3000 tonight (lows to dip in the mid to upper 30's tonight and tomorrow night). Dammit, just when you think you are done for the season and BAM........

Warm and humid all week here. Winds picked up and the temps dropped a bit around 5:00 pm with dry air moving in. I went out to stack wood and the humidity rolled back in. Very unpredictable.

We tell the grandkids that they didn't close school for winter snow years ago. Now, they seem to close school in summer:

School Superintendent Ric Palmer says 10-to-12 inches fell in places overnight and heavy snow brought some tree branches down on lines, knocking out power and phones.
A recorded message about the freak snow on the school phone line had an incredulous tone: “I repeat it’s Wednesday, May 22, and we have had to cancel school.”
The town stands about 3,000 feet above sea level.

It would be a perfect opportunity to get the 91 broke in but just is not going to happen. It's in the fireplace but my friend that owns a fab shop just took some measurements tonight to make pipe to connect to the liner with. (has to have a 23 degree bend). I'll post some pictures when the install is complete.

Enjoying the LAST fire of the season tonight. Thought about it last night with a mid-30's low temp & some healthy wind, but the brick & plaster in this place held enough heat to make it through. Came home from work tonight at 8:30 to a 63 degree house. Boxers weather in the stove room now 
I'm not much for hard & fast rules about when the heat or AC comes on or off for the season, but if I can't stop burning after Memorial DayI think I'll move further south.
