Feeling the Heat

Just picked it up. Doing the initial burn in with some Greenways. Don't want to waste the mesquite pellets on curing the powder coat. :)

Can't wait to see some shots of the stuff this thing makes. Come on pics.

Didn't even think of taking a pic of the food. Nothing terribly fancy tonight. Cooked a steak for my wife and I and some turkey sausages for the kid.

I will say its a very well built unit. It's a heavy beast, but it rolls around easy on its wheels. Its by far the easiest non gas grill I've ever used.

Not sure what I'll cook tomorrow. I'm contemplating either ribs or a beer can chicken. I plan on setting the heat low and letting whatever I make smoke nice and slow. Tonight was a 'we're hungry, make dinner' kind of a night.

(In case anyone doesn't know what's in the pic, it's a Grilla pellet grill, manufactured by Fahrenheit Technologies).

I just looked at the price of that thing. Eeeekkkk!

You ended up buying it!?!? Um... Yeah, I'm jealous!

Fahrenheit hit a home run with the Furnace. I can only imagine that the grill is just as nice.

Got any inside pics? I'm looking really hard at buying a Pellet grill with the money from the Quad when I sell it.

I am interested in the guts and workings ? Feed mech, blower, igniter, etc..

Congrats. (Lucky)

EDIT - repost - I screwed up the image uploads from my phone.

BB - yeah, it ain't cheap. It wasn't as much as is listed on their website, but it wasn't far off. I plan on having this unit for a long, long time. Its mostly all 13 gage steel, not like the flimsy Char Broil I am replacing. I sold a bunch of car parts and miscellaneous junk I collected over the years to finance it. As my wife said, I can get it if I get rid of other crap. Worked out good as I have more room in the basement and barn.

Here are a few pics. Might not be the greatest as they are phone pics.

The hopper assembly holds 20 pounds of pellets. I smoked a pork loin last night for a couple hours and it used roughly a decent sized cereal bowl of pellets.
The control panel, I think, is a standard off the shelf unit. If you want the temp lower than 225, you set it to 'smoke' and choose from 16 settings that vary the heat and smoke level.
Auger motor. Nothing fancy here.

The combustion fan looks to be a standard 4 inch muffin fan.

The cooking grates are heavy stainless steel. The top rack comes out if you're cramming a big roast or bird in there. The lid pivots on the center axis which is handy if you want to take a quick look inside without letting the heat out.
The burner assembly is under the heat deflector. Pardon the ash. Haven't cleaned it yet..

The fire viewing window looks cool in the dark or if you want to look at the fire. Who doesn't want to watch fire?

Dinner. Pork loin, corn on the cob and macaroni and cheese.

I looked at some other units and kept coming back to this one. It's easy to move around, doesn't take up a whole lot of room, is built to last (I hope) and its made in the USA, specifically about 35 miles from my house. The guys at Fahrenheit are a great group of people. That's worth quite a bit to me.

Plus it looks cool. :)

The Englander grill is $995.99 (or $999.99? On AMFM). So that price isn't far off of a good quality unit. There are some that are in the $3,000-$5,000 range.

This unit would far exceed the Jr from Greater. And has some really cool options.

As I said before. Fahrenheit did a stand up job and hit a home run with the Endurance 50F furnace. I'm sure the quality and performance of this was the same. Mark Graham and Matt Fitts of Fahrenheit are a pleasure to speak with a very well know there stuff!!

Congrats man

I tried all sorts of grills over the years and didn't like any of them. One day I was thinking about it and realized the best grilling I do is as the camp cook at the deer lease down in Texas on a grill made of stacked concrete blocks and a grate. Stacked me some blocks with a grate the next day and have never looked back.

Of course the redneck smoker still gets fired for 14 hours twice a year too.

ETA: The concrete blocks came from the landfill. The grate came from that gas grill that I absolutely hated.

Hmm. Nice. I might think about a can koozie, but the T-shirts are beyond my reach. ;lol Enjoy! Rick

Yummy!! I want one.
