Got a second load out of there today....used the 041AV Super to noodle the big crotches and knots.....

So that's two monster loads from this tree......and there are still two big piles of smaller rounds to get yet!!

Great looking old saw good to see you still let it do some work.

I built that saw from three donors.......its a Super (72cc vs. a stock 041 at 61cc), its got a mild exhaust/intake port with a dual port muffler I built......
It runs that 28" B/C with authority. The bucking spikes I made as well on my buddy's forge out of leaf springs off of an old Willys Jeep!! That ol' girl has cut a CHITLOAD of wood for me........I've been running the pants off of it for over 6 years now!!

That is some fantastic firewood Scott. Great that you have a son you can share the work with too.

I recall many moons ago when we cut off a guy's woods that was 99% beech. Naturally we also took some firewood home most nights. This is back when we split it all with a double bitted axe too. No splitting mauls and no hydraulics but youth was in my favor then. So long as I did not try to split through the heart wood the splitting went well and we got some great firewood. Pallet Pete promises me some beech and that will be great because we have not burned any for several years now. It will be a good addition to the little bit of wood we have already put up.

You know how I like locust Scotty but there is just something about beech.....I have always been fond of that for firewood. I think it is the smooth tight bark, so no mess. Puts off some real nice heat and a good long burn ta-boot.

Maybe change your name to "Beech Bum"...;)

I'm diverse too, LP. I have to admit that beech is on my "most desired" list as well.......

Now you are making me think of some good seafood.....or maybe I am just hungry. Wife just got home with some sweet corn and I have the chicken ready for the grill. Then we will sit around the firepit but won't be quite the same my friend. Had to put my buddy down this week. Been some tears shed here. Sorry, a little off subject but who better to understand than the "Hoarders Club"

Sorry to hear of your loss, LP......those dogs sure do become part of the family, don't they? That sweet corn sure sounds good, LP....wish we'd get some around here, but it's gonna be a while....it's barely 8" out of the ground around here!

Thanks Scotty and Zap. Cancer took my boy, 12 years old he was always by my side.

Pets sure do become family, sometimes they are better than family because they are always happy to see you.

I agree, I love the old saws......hands down.
That said, I just ordered a chinese knock-off case for the Husqvarna 372XP on ebay ........40 bucks plus 12 bucks shipping.......

The stripped bucking spike holes lead to an oil leak that I was going to tear apart and TIG weld shut, I figured screw it I'll just order a replacement case and new crank seals and put a new one on. The spike screws will be loctited in place on the new case. IMO the spike mounts on the husky SUCK. Weak point on an awesome saw.

No need to be sorry Pete. Make hay when the sun shines. Bringing home the paycheck is more important. Besides, we're not what you'd call hurting for firewood. ;)

He looks a lot like a friend of mine (my MIL's mix) that is also gettin' on in the years. Weak back legs that are getting more and more obvious every day. :(
