cut down by a couple "pros" last Summer.
handling lengths rather than firewood lengths so lots of resizing.

red oak rounds on the left, white in the middle, stack of mix hardwood to the right
no more cookies resizing.
My sister's husband passed from a 4 year long battle with cancer and is moving down here and will be using a stove that takes long splits so anything over 16 but under 24 I'm just setting aside for her. I'm not wasting gas on cookies. I did a couple. No more.

First rounds to bog and stall my little electric splitter.
It's back there behind the pile you just can't see it.
Gotta keep working it.
Gotta hand split the big rounds in 3 or 4 just to heft 'em on the splitter.
Tree was dead a couple years before it was cut down but the heartwood is still soaking wet.
Smells great though.

White oak smells great IMO. :)

Some nice wood when it's dry .

Good man helping your sister ;)

Nothing better than the smell of White Oak when the rounds have been sitting around curing for a while. Probably helps if it's dead when cut...I've still got a trunk to get that's been suspended off the ground for several years, I guess I'll find out! :) Can be tough splitting, though... <>

white oak is heavenly.....the smell of it cutting, splitting and burning is one of the best. not to mention the fantastic BTU's that it lets out.....

Every time I walk downwind of the pile or what is stacked I want a glass of Russian River Valley Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay

Nice work Bill.

Just a great aroma when burning it too. When you're outside and smell the white oak burning it just smells
like the way a woodstove fire should smell. One of those" good old day" memories.:)
