Friend and I left the house to go to the spot where he has been cutting, and I helped out where I could. We left during the start of what would be a NASTY storm. About 5 minutes into our trip it started raining so damn hard, and then heavy wind and golf ball size hail. I thought we were doomed, wipers on turbo dodging tree limbs falling and all over the road and the truck. Holy chit I thought, a limb fell into the truck bed as we drove, just missing the cab. We just wanted to get out of the curved heavily wooded section of the road into a clearing. The hail lasted a solid 15 minutes, which I am surprised didn't break the windshield. The storm passed, we got to location, he cut, I helped roll logs and headed home about an hour later. Roads were half blocked with trees, signs, and powerlines. Got home, no house damage, thank God, but branches everywhere, and the garden took quite a beating, mainly the tomato and pepper plants. Hopefully they will bounce back. Daily severe storms here expected all week until this heat lets up. Be safe y'all, thx 4 reading

Glad you made it through. We had two storms pass northeast of us, the rest of the week should be a hit or miss on the storms for us too.

Just make sure you hear that thunder coming under that ear protection. Dont know how many miles back you go, I imagine a few, at times. If I were deep in the woods cutting with what came through today, I probably would have dug a hole real quick and jumped on in it. Ooomph:confused:

Won't be any cutting or splitting until this weather clears.

We also had a horrendous thunderstorm here. One lightning hit the TV antenna of our neighbors about 50 ft to my right from where I was sitting working at the computer!!!! The thunder was so loud I almost jumped off the chair. I saw the sparks flying over their roof. Fortunately, they are ok although they were not sure if the TV still worked. I have never seen something like that but would prefer to not repeat that experience.

Warnings out again for about an hour + from now. We are at the northern part, but again hail, frequent lightning, and strong winds. So much for getting a good nights sleep....:(

We're lucking out so far today, it seems the storms would fire up once they went east of us. We still have some storms coming from Canada that we might get tonight.

Stay Safe

Not sure where you are exactly but we lucked out and other than solid 5 minutes of super heavy rain around 3 this afternoon, the storms went all around us. There were some creepy dark clouds as the sun was just setting that were glowing orange from lightening in the distance but so far, so good here. These 90+ days have these wicked storm threats all week!

Just went out to call the dogs in, and it's starting to blow pretty good out there right now, Jeni Marie. You must be seeing it to, or will be in about 10 minutes.

Thanks for the warning! Just came in with my dogs too. My little guy is absolutely terrified of thunder, shakes so bad he makes himself throw up (no luck with that thunder shirt either)

Just turned on the weather channel and yep...it's coming right for us! 60 Mph wind and hail in Paoli right now and its moving pretty fast! Batten down the hatches :)

This is from the Albany area storm on Monday the 24th.

So far we've been in a nice little pocket, most of the storms are south of us or start up east of us.

All week we've had this up, this morning looks like we'll get something.

A FEW STRONGER STORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE BETWEEN 2 PM AND 7 PM TODAY
ACROSS THE NORTH COUNTRY. THE MAIN THREAT WILL BE WIND GUSTS TO 50
MPH...SMALL HAIL...LOCALIZED HEAVY DOWN POURS...AND DANGEROUS CLOUD TO
GROUND LIGHTNING. THE COMBINATION OF SATURATED SOILS AND
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL...WILL INCREASE THE POTENTIAL FOR MINOR URBAN
AND LOW LYING FLOODING THIS AFTERNOON...ALONG WITH RAPID RISES ON
SMALLER STREAMS AND RIVERS.

Not only did the storm I was CERTAIN was heading right for me last night never come, I was just not even 10 miles from home picking up meds at the vet when all hell broke. Trees down, wind so hard it was raining sidways and I thought my little mini cooper was going to flip in the wind. After a few detours, I headed home to find not a drop of rain, not at all. Just had to water the garden a little since these storms are so hit and miss I'm afraid not watering after a 95 degree day will led to droopy plants. Crazy stuff for sure!
