They cleared the hedgerow separating my back yard from the building lot behind me. Very disappointing, but the new neighbor "wants to see his house from the street," thru my own yard.

On the up side, though, they delivered several trees right to my wood pile. Several ash, and I'm guessing the ones with the odd discoloration on the end are maple?

Too bad you had to lose those. Did you tell the guy "Yeah, but I don't want to see your house." ;) If the arrival of the EAB is imminent, that would take some of the sting out of it. I guess the first order of business is to select a species of fast-growing tree that you like and plant a row of them back there. ;lol
Yeah, Maple, although I don't know what kind. Hard Maple will be....well, hard. ==c No leaf pics? You know better than that. ;)

Yep... already made a call to one of the local nurseries. When I confronted the new owner about cutting down the trees, he said he didn't like living under trees, and wanted to see his house from the street. odd move, as he bought a wooded flag lot in someone's back yard. We had already planned on planting more (I put in 42 Norway Spruce along this line last year), so we'll be blocking him back out from our house (and the street!) as quick as we can get something growing. The down side is that I'm up on a hill, and the property line is a low area between the houses. Whatever I plant will need to grow to 30' or 40' tall, before it's a really good screen. Likely won't happen in my lifetime.

Thought the same, but this guy was a pro.

Henge looks good. Hallow one cant see putting one on it!

Whoa. This wood nut aspect of your personality has really come to the fore, due to hanging out here. You might need some help. ;);lol

Yeah, if you know where it's going, you don't need much on there. I tend to err on the side of caution since I'm no pro. _g

At least it was a good wood score!

Some very nice wood there. That is the good part of the deal.

Be careful of the hairy vine! <>

Good eye! ;) I am a person who almost never raises my voice, but when I saw my son run over to that vine and reach for it, I yelled toward him "stop!" He was so startled at hearing dad , he started to cry a little. ;lol It did keep him away from the vine, though.

I don't think that vine is anything, from what I can see....

The vine hairs look too coarse from here, but leaves look like a definite maybe.... Second request on this thread for leaf pics. ;lol
Yep, I got a little careless recently, and have a couple of lines on my left arm. Grrrrr....

It's PI, guys. Nice big leaves of three! This is just a little 3/4" vine. I was cutting 2" - 3" vines of this stuff when I moved into this property!

Close enough for me to take evasive action, I might even get it from the picture.

Can it spread to my lawn just sitting there? I don't think it develops seeds until later in the season, which is why I figured I'd just leave it there to die. I have about 10 cords of un-processed rounds stacked about the place at the moment, so it may be spring before I get to cutting and splitting this!

It can't spread. I'd just pull it off dispose of appropriately so that the kids or unsuspecting idiots don't get mixed up in it.

Ive got PI now just from reading this post!!! Looks like some Silver and Norway maple mixed in with that ash. Free wood delivered for free is the best! Sucks you lost your tree row though.

I was messing with a big silver maple this week that had PI all over it. I used Ivarest cleaner on my hands and wrists that were exposed but it is still trying to get me. I'll get the bleach after it before it get a good start. I hate cutting wood this time of year just for that reason not to mention the heat.

I got a case of PI last year that must've been for the record books. Trouble was, I kept re-infecting myself, because I had gotten the oils all over various gloves, saws, equipment, my tractor, etc. Thru the ordeal, andmy tendency to research everything beyond the point of utility (I'm a research engineer), I believe I have the ideal treatment plan:

1. Wash with Tecnu Extreme or Zanfel (I use Tecnu Extreme because it's much cheaper and just as effective) any time you've been around PI. (duh)
2. Wash with TE or Zanfel any time you see a rash starting. Wash any area that was exposed, not just where the rash is showing up. (again, duh...)
3. Go to your dermatologist or family doctor and request a 1 lb. tub of triamcinolone acetonide (synthetic corticosteroid) in petroleum jelly. Typically 0.1%.
4. Once you're absolutely sure you've succeeded in washing off all the oils, apply the steroid. Rash will be gone in 24 - 48 hours.

Most doctors seem to like prescribing prednisone for bad cases, but I do not see any good reason to take an oral steroid, when a topical is available, and generally more effective! The triamcinolone acetonide was suggested to me by a dermatologist at Penn University Hospital.

That's the same procedure I do except I just use the Benadryl or store brand itch creme. I'll have to check into the prescription stuff next time. That technu stuff def helps!! Good product!
