Yes, I am looking for solid clay bricks, not the standard with the holes. The current trend is concrete "clay bricks". I can't believe this has been such a difficult search. I even stopped at a masonry outlet. They did offer firebrick but it is almost 3 times the cost of common brick and I really need this for temporary experiments. I finally found some solid bricks online through Home Depot.

Solid vs cored and clay vs concrete = two separate issues. Also "common brick" refers to brick that's not select, such as face brick. Common brick is what you use inside a wall, where it will never be seen.

Get your terminology right, and your search will be much easier! If you call a brickyard and use all the wrong terms, the guy answering is either going to be confused, or decide to have some fun toying with Harry Homeowner! ;)

That is about 4 1/2 - 5 hours (Harrisburg) away but thanks, Scotty! :)

Do lots of searching on CL......enter different search phrases (antique brick, vintage brick, salvaged brick, etc.). I can guarantee you'll eventually find some near you....

Yes, I have discovered that when you are going to search for brick, there are a million different types. Lol. (I also stopped by a brick yard.)

I suspect most of what you'll find on Craigslist is concrete brick, and it sounds like the OP is specifically seeking clay brick. There's tons of clay brick around, if you live near an older town / city, but most newer stuff is that ugly (and useless for high heat) concrete brick.
well just in case i got the terminology wrong.. this was all made from that CL lot of solid clay brick.. took a lot of cuts to get that curve.. i had red brick dust everywhere
