Guys/Gals,

Just picked it up today, assembled it, put in some Amsoil and ethanol free gas in it and split a few rounds. Very fast and seems to be well built....Time will tell! Wanted to split some more but 94 degrees and dew point at 74=too hot for me!!

Has anyone wellded a longer wedge, or a 4 way wedge onto their unit?? If so what type of hardened steel? I have a buddy with some old conty road commission plow blades and thinking of the bottom of one of those? Any thoughts/recommendations would be appreciated.

Mine splits most anything with the factory blade, but often there would be stringers at the top of the split and I had to man handle the halves apart or flip and re-do. Happened to have an old ax head that had a compatible wedge angle and I welded that on. Works great. Seems to me you'd want something no thicker than the factory blade.
