Damn good price, I would be buying that if they were available around me.

Question: how many pounds of pellets would equal a cord of well seasoned hardwood like oak or hickory? Thanks

I would say roughly 3880lbs. . . .

Tax on pellets?

ugh. jealous.
i just have to take comfort in how little i paid for my house here.
still...

still have yet to see 'sets for sale near me :(

Real estate is much cheaper in Michigan spent most my life there before Maine.

maybe in the mean. but here it's very very low.
extremely so.
unless maybe if you're talking detroit.

still want cheaper pellets though.;lol

20k for our house. full basement. bone dry no rot. came with new gas range, clothes dryer and nice new fridge. new water pipes because sellers let the old ones burst one winter. and new electric.
with new roof, siding, insulation, new basement windows, new washing machine, full pellet stove set up and things like the generator, lawn mower and all other new household goods purchased, we came in under 45k.

but maybe you're right. i never lived there.

ha!
down the hill on the far side is one abandoned house and one that isn't live in but is maintained.
we love the space and the quiet. good thing we aren't looking for jobs though
thread fully hijacked now. sorry.

sommersets for $189 a ton! great deal.

I can't build a shed for 20 grand here. Hell, the building permit cost alone is like 5 grand.

20k?? That would MAYBE pay for a stone wall. What are the taxes?

taxes were around $850 last year. probably going up to around $1,000 this year.
we actually spent more fixing it up than the purchase price.
i love it here too. love my house. 924 sq. feet. but the basement is that big as well.
we just tore down that funky side porch and had a new one built.
like i said though, it's good we were retiring and not looking for jobs.

somersets for $189 a ton! wow!;lol

what the heck. i've derailed this so completely i may as well post a before pic. brb...

St Earl, that house was waiting for you. Some houses aren't so lucky to find someone to make and keep it a home. Hope you have many happy years there. Don't let the taxes get you down. Mine doubled in the past ten years. Too many jobs have left this state but the bills stayed around.

What does the Video have to do with the price of Pellets?Just curious?

pellet king said "shotgun shack".
and that's in the first line of that song.

in any case, early in the thread i said i was jealous of the price the op got on somersets. and that i would just have to take comfort in how little my house cost.
then it all went off the rails.
but yeah, i wish pellets were cheaper here in the northeast.
