I just made my first pellet run of the season (yeah I drive 50 minutes just to get a ton of Alleghenys and barefoots) and they had a brand I never heard of, not even discussed here. Kentucky Kernals. I know the people at the shop where I went so I asked what they had this year besides the Allegneys and Barefoots. The one lady said Kentucky Kernels and the owner of the place made a face...

I said ok, what's with the face? She said no they're ok for the most part, then other lady said people reported them to be a little ashy. Then the guy I usually deal with said I was too good of a customer and buy your Alleghenys.

so.... has anyone ever tried them? good? bad? I need one more pellet run to make 4 ton for this year so I may buy a few bags to test.

Some of our customers had issues with them a few years ago. The problem was that the pellets would build up in the hopper (possibly a bridging problem) and not feed into the firebox. The stove would then shutdown due to lack of pellets in the firebox. These problems were happening with customers who had not only Harman stoves, but other stoves also.

We no longer purchase these pellets due to the complaints.
