Well..... I Really hate to do this. I see so many of these posts about what pellets to buy. BUT..... Here it goes..

Not much time left in the burning season. I have 3 pellet choices that I am gonna drop the dime on. Don't have the time to "Test" burn the Brand I would like to buy. I am Buying 3-4 more tons within the next week. By next weekend I planned on having them purchased. I have 5 tons of Lig's Presto-Logs already. They burn really hot in all 3 stoves, but want at least 8 to 9 tons in the basement, rolling into next year.
Here are the choices.
1- Greenway Pellets --- Burned 10 bags of these. Good heat, clean pellet, low ash, dusty. --------------------------$200.00 a Ton
2- Lignetic's (Green Label) Burned 1 bag of these. Great heat, clean pellet, low ash -------------------------------------$200.00 a Ton
3- Easy Heat Pellets --- Never burned them, local pellet, but will have to drive a little further to get ---------$185.00 a Ton

All and all with a 4 ton purchase I would save $60 or more on Easy Heats depending if he gave a better discount for "Multi-ton" orders. Worst case scenario, I could mix a 50/50 blend together of them. Presto's are one of the Hottest pellets in my stove.

Have my mind about made up. Need others opinions. (Other than try a few bags before you buy) I know this is the Golden Rule of Pellet burning. I always do this. This is the reason I started this thread. 1st time making a purchase without trying (at least this pellet). But this Dealer is 1.5 hrs away and I will be in the area next weekend for my Wife's Baby Shower anyways. Best Dealer in the Area, Trust him when he says its a good pellet. Only Dealer I have met that knows his stuff. All the other don't know there A$$ from a Hole in the Ground. Especially where I purchased my Quad.

Any help is appreiciated. Easy Heats are Made in Ohio. Mill just started up and producing in December 2010. Looking for anyone that may have burned them. Doubt many people have, but gotta try.

Follow your good judgement....burn before buying large quantity's. Typically, new mills have "teething" problems and the quality just isn't there.

IMO, based on your findings on the 3 brands, stick w/ the Lig's.....they're only $.30/bag more. Buy 5-10 bags of the Easy Heats to test burn. If they start out burning terrible, stop burning them, and mix them w/ the Ligs next fall for shoulder season "mix".

we have burned about a ton of easy heat pellets. they seem to be pretty good. Alittle more ash but good heat.

I will be purchasing a pellet stove this week, after much investigating, decided on a enviro m55. I am now looking into pellets. I found a local dealer who sells the easy heat and country boy, and turman. I am trying to decide is it worth it to buy the more expensive 100% oak? does it last longer or burn hotter I am a newbie please help!!

Welcome aboard jeanine! We were just discussing the topic(economical vs expensive pellets) in another thread. Not the same brands as you mentioned, But should still be informative for you.

Seeing your getting the M55, which is a multifuel unit. It should handle the higher ash fuel no problem. Generally the lower priced pellets have less BTU content per pound and a higher ash content. So you'll burn a bit more and have more ash to clean. Where the higher priced cleaner burning pellets are most useful IMHO is during the cold weather where the stove has to work harder to keep the shack warm. You'll be able to burn more fuel between cleanings. Which means less stove down time in the cold.

There are a few other threads on the easy heat pellet brand. Reports don't seem to be all that good though! Hope it helps some?

If you have the $$ to afford the higher priced pellets, the Turmans always get great reviews. Don't know much about the country boys.

okay so I'm still investigating my purchase for a pellet stove I am leaning toward the enviro m55 multi fuel stove. It got a lot of mixes reviews, but so did Harman, and lopi and quadrafire. It's not a cheap stove. In long island they go for 4000.00 I do love it but I don't want to purchase and then be sorry. We were also considering wood burning, the Vermont castings defiant, but that also got mixed reviews. Can anyone out there help sooo undecided

It would help if you get down to deciding on which fuel to burn; wood, pellets or both! Local pellet choices could be a major factor but that changes every heating season.Good luck & welcome aboard.

I thought the pellet stove would be easier to use as far as control of the heat. where the wood burning you really cant control. Also I may not like to leave the wood burning when I am not home, even though everyone said they do it all the time. I love the pellet stove and I love how you can set it at a temp. I heard that stove eats pellets well at least some of the reviews said that, If anyone owns the enviro m55 cast I would love to hear you thoughts

You might get more hits if you start your own thread. We are going of the threads title and the M55 owners may not be looking at them.

I can attest they "will" eat anything, I own its big sister and my beast has eaten what ever wood pellet I have thrown in it with ease. I am the picky one now. Check out some of my pellet test and the junk I have burned. Stove never squawked once!

omg I guess I have to see how to do that lol, ok so when you mean your pellet stove will eat anything do you mean any quality of pellet or that it eats a lot??? This is all new to me !!! :)

Any quality of pellet. It does eat a lot too if I let it, but thats a good thing when its really cold out. Lots of heat to keep you warm while you thumb your nose at the oil guy driving by! ;)

The guy who I am purchasing from also has the enviro m55 cast and he loves it, he was the one who told me not to buy an expensive hardwood pellet he said to buy a mix of hardwood and softwood he gets his from lowes, or home depot. You can get a pallet for 210.00 The other places buy me want 278.00 to start some want 335.00 I think that's a lot so I will trying the cheaper first. How many pallets do you normally use a season???

yeah that's what most people have been telling me. my house is about 2100 sq ft and was built 10 years ago so windows and insulation are pretty good so I'm figuring about 3 tons also. I can't wait for my installation I'm so excited !!!
