I have two 25pdv one a cottage the other in a home. They are both 8 years old .the one in the cottage when I open the door and remove the ash from burn pot.than close door in a few min's it go into e3 over heat.yet it will burn all day and nite as hight as I set it

how much fuel does it load up before it gets going again good after you close the door?

strikes me you are hovering close to the high limit anyway when you get ready to do this and the added loading without draft is pushing you over the high limit. check the room fan make sure its not clogged, also if this doesn't work, reset the mode into mode setting "d" which will unlock the room fan control from the heat range , run the blower speed higher than the heat for a bit before you scoop so the stove will cool down a bit before hand

The manual for the unit I use in my shop says the E-3 is a blower failure not over temp.

11. Unit keeps shutting down

(“E” codes on control board)

1. Blocked flue (E-1)

2. Blower failure (E-3)

Did you remove ALL of the ash from the burn pot?
If I remove ash while the stove is burning, I will leave a lot of embers to keep the fire going.
