I'm clearing some live trees for a garden and am wondering what I have here.
I am realizing I am terrible at figuring these out, especially when the leaves are off.

There are two kinds. I put my finger up in the picture to indicate the different ones. They look similar but the inside on the second is much lighter and has a lot more moisture.

Thanks for any help.

I think the orange looking pieces are mulberry. Peace.

Walnut and pear or some fruit wood

Thanks a lot for the responses. I was thinking walnut and had no clue on the other one. Most of the wood I've ever cut has already been dead.

Thanks a lot.

Number 1 is definitely Walnut; I can't tell about the other one with the orange stripe in the grain; any chance that we can get a straight-on picture of the bark for that one-kinda hard to see the bark details with it standing up like that.

Not Honey Locust for sure 1000%

#2 pic shows a very few elm leaves on the ground. Wood looks like elm too.

We're still waiting on a picture of the bark for a positive I.D......

Maybe you and/or the wood is snowed in? ==c
