Feeling the Heat

Just came in from the third drive clearing. At 5:30 this AM check and I had about 2' to the vent (from snow build-up). Just checked again and it was less than 12". The heat from the vent was melting the snow away but could start to get serious.
Check your vent, check your vent then check your vent!

My vent is up 25 ft. So far here it's snowed less than an inch . But at any rate, that's one good reason to vent up in the chimney. Another is I don't care what direction a strong wind blows from.

Yup same deal for me. Vented thru fireplace and lined all the way up the chimney.

My vent is 8' off the ground. If snow ever got that high, I wouldn't worry about the stove because I'd drive south until I find people who don't know what a snowblower is and move there.

You might have ended up in Panama this winter!!

Ya but my wife doesn't want any part of it, she likes the seasons she says( here).

Is it safe to assume that she doesn't partake of snow removal activities?

Not beyond sweeping off the side steps and tossing out a few pellets of ice melt. No I walk the snow blower down the two sided 85' driveway with the circle at the top and the two parking areas. One for two cars the other for three( 190Plus ft of driveway plus the parking) But I think that's changing next year cause I believe at 64 one should run a garden tractor with a Berco blower on it with that size driveway !! So that tractor is going to be my birthday present to myself next month. I'll start there and sell my lawn tractor at the bottom of the same driveway about in May. I'm looking at a Husqvarna Gt2448xls with locking diff and fabricated deck.

Mine is also up 25ft and the snow is only half way there. LOL If it keeps snowing into July I might have a problem. :)

I used to snowblow our driveway and often the shared lane (I'm thinking we have you beat on length - our driveway/parking alone would equal yours). We upgraded this year to a Kubota with 60" snowblower (bucket and hoe for summer projects). The "cab" kit was a waste of money - broken zipper when installing. Didn't help much with the cold this winter. Hubby has only been out 3x - more my job than his;lol

Hopefully it will start melting soon for you guys in the colder areas. Ours is mostly gone except for the new two inches we got yesterday that stuck to grass only. That should be gone today. It's 14 out this morning ( 73 inside incidentally thanks to the P61) but now they upgraded our weather, today to hit mid 30's and tomorrow near 50, yay ! It doesn't take much to melt out this fluffy stuff in the warmer march sun.

I would love to have that ! But I don't think it's in my budget with retirement looming down on me ( if they offer me a deal at work to go I'll probably take it). I'll be happy with the Husqvarna or a 2000 series cadet and a good blower like the Berco line of blowers and a plow for those times when it all turns to 4 inches of slush when they predicted 18 inches of fluff.. The Berco Power Lift makes for easy hitch and drop between units. 48" blower and maybe 52 on the plow would be fine around here.. Suite case weights , wheel weights and chains. Good to go. I don't know about the cab either. There is a guy the next town over with a JD and cab that plows the sidewalks and has had the cab on that as far back as I can remember. I don't think he has ever missed a single storm in the 35 years I'm looking back on.
