So, what kind of burn times are getting out of this "wonder cat"? Are you heating only with the stove? How big is your house?

I load it up in the morning about 7am and then reload about 7pm .It still has plenty of usable heat at both loading times.i have got over 24 hours easy when it was'nt 0 out:eek: Yes it heats all my 22 hundred square feet easily .Keeps it around 75 through out with a fan pushing air from the back of the house toward the stove.

STUNNING!! Job well done!!

You're hired!

This is beautiful! What are the measurements of your finished alcove
? We are about to do a similar install. Thanks!

This is beautiful!
Thanks, the finished opening measures 27 deep by 50 wide and the peak of the arch is 80 all dimensions are in inches .The stone varies from a inch to inch and half thick and i used half inch durock on all the walls so you subtract those two and that would get you pretty close to my rough in size.If your using the same stove all these sizes meet and exceed the clearance requirements.

That lighting looks incredible! Nice work!

We're finally starting on our project, and our dimensions are very similar to yours. I am reading the installation specs, and see nothing about doing an air gap behind the durock - did you do the gap or not? Our retailer says it isn't needed, but we don't want to prep for the inspector and have to do it over again. Thanks for any help you can offer!

The air gap isn't necessary. It would not allow you to get the stove any closer to the wall than the manufacturer allows. They state the minimum clearance to a combustible, nothing changes that in this instance.

Steve, absolutely beautiful job, I have just a couple questions. The first is how much wood did you use this past winter? I see your from Indiana and this past winter was pretty rough for you guys, prob worse then NNJ's weather. My other question is, are you heating a ranch style house? If so do you mind sharing your floor plan? I own a ranch and I'm literally meeting with an architect this week to start the design process of creating an open floor plan for the kitchen, dinning room, living room and enclosing the front porch to make the living room bigger and I want to incorporate a good stove area design that wont be in the way, but will look good and be part of the house.

Thank you so much for confirming, webby. Can't wait to get our picture of the Princess on here (and in the alcove!).
